Ontario Chamber Calls for Resolution of Ongoing Ports Strikes

(Toronto, November 8, 2024) – Today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s (OCC) President and CEO, Daniel Tisch, released a statement following the work stoppage at the Port of Vancouver and the partial work stoppage at the Port of Montreal

This week at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

On October 31, we sent a joint letter to the Minister of Labour and Seniors, the Honourable Steven MacKinnon, expressing our deep concern regarding the indefinite strike by CUPE 375 at the Port of Montreal. 

As representatives of the Canadian business community, we are calling on the government to take immediate action to facilitate negotiations, use every tool at its disposal to ensure the Port remains fully operational, and protect Canada’s crucial Eastern Gateway.
