Giving Tuesday: The Journey in Finding Home

When Su Roth first arrived in Fort Wayne at 14, she felt like an outsider. Coming from Burma/Myanmar with her family, she was afraid to speak up, worried about saying the wrong thing, and keenly aware that she didn’t look like anyone else in her class. It was a lonely, isolating time.

Today, as a therapist with Amani, Su uses her experiences to guide Burmese refugees toward healing and belonging. With compassion and understanding, she helps others along their journey in finding their place in our community.

Giving Tuesday is tomorrow - your generosity can make a difference. Together, we can ensure Su and our team of dedicated providers continue to create a community where everyone feels welcome and supported.

Watch Su's Story and be part of this journey to build belonging.

Amani and Community Partners Share Perspectives on Community Centered Care

On November 14, Amani joined community partners Allen County Public Library (ACPL) and YWCA Northeast Indiana for a Diversity Dialogue on Community Centered Care. The dialogue highlighted the work of the Allen County Public Library and how they have adjusted to our community's ever-changing needs. Amani was able to share important information about the makeup and needs of our immigrant and refugee community.

The event featured guest speakers Keiara Carr, Director of Mission Advancement at Amani Family Services, Beth Boatright, Director of Community Partnerships and Programs at ACPL, and Curt Witcher, Director of Special Collections at ACPL, and invited community members to join in the conversation and think through new possibilities.
