State Treasurer Fiona Ma served with Assemblymember Sandré R. Swanson during his three terms in the California Assembly. Treasurer Ma is the 34^th State Treasurer. She is the first woman of color and the first woman Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to hold this important position. Ms. Ma is a very popular state-wide official elected to the position of State Treasurer with nearly 8 million votes. More votes than any other candidate for Treasurer in the state’s history.

Former Assemblymember Sandré R. Swanson served with Treasurer Ma when she was Speaker pro Tempore of the Assembly, and worked closely with her, in the State Assembly, as they both shared a reputation of being solution-oriented legislators. Swanson, if elected would be the only African-American in the State Senate from Northern California.

Treasurer Ma said “I worked alongside Sandré Swanson in our State Assembly and know him as a passionate, thoughtful and hardworking legislator. In the post-COVID economy, we need his leadership to protect the availability of healthcare for families. He supported small business loans in underserved communities as a job builder. He led the legislature in passing laws to rescue our children from Human Traffickers to stop the underground economy of crime in our community. Sandre said he wants to go to the State Capitol as our Senator to fix, with humanitarian solutions, the current housing and homeless crisis and to regain control of our parks and neighborhoods from homeless encampments.
