Impact Cares in
WISCONSIN
PROJECTS at
Edison & Lakeview

We were blessed with beautiful weather in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, for projects at both Lakeview and Edison Estates. Unfortunately, COVID affected our outside volunteer work force. But we did have 27 residents in Edison who joined us. In Lakeview, we had 8 join in, along with 10 from Edison, who came to help out and bless another community. We were also joined by several Impact employees! What a tremendous effort of heart and muscle! We were able to complete 81 different projects at 32 homes in Lakeview. It made for long days but there were just so many residents who tugged at our hearts!
Caring Kids in Action
The kids were awesome at Edison Estates! Many of them helped install the new playground! It was so fun to watch the excitement in their eyes when they dug holes, spread wood chips and help lift the swing into place! We know they will enjoy and appreciate their playground because they were a part of creating it! Dylan, son of Jenifer, the Community Manager for both communities, worked so hard at both events, leading crews and providing great support! This young man has a great future ahead!
The kids at Lakeview had already helped one elderly woman who is "Grandma" to all of them, by taking an old picnic table apart and using it to stabilize her crumbling steps. We decided to give her a whole new entrance and the kids not only helped with the new deck but used the "repurposed" picnic table materials to build a birdhouse stand in front of her house! Everyone enjoyed themselves and "Grandma" was truly grateful!
Service Spot Light
Jennifer Witak and her family are residents of Edison Estates in Oshkosh. Her husband, Tom, is our maintenance person for both Edison and Lakeview. Jennifer and her family were a huge part of the Impact Cares team for 3 weeks, volunteering at both the Edison and Lakeview events. She never hesitated to roll up her sleeves, power washing several houses and doing a lot of yardwork! Jennifer loves helping her neighbors and always has a smile and cheerful attitude for everyone! It is residents like this that help transform a park into a real community, with neighbors who care about each other and consider them family. She and Tom are already planning to travel to future Impact Cares events, even in other states! We are so grateful for their big hearts and generous spirit!
Team Member Highlight
Tom is an indispensable member of the Impact Cares Team. He was born in Delta, grew up in Cedaredge and Canon City. During those years, he loved to ride his bicycle as far and as fast as he could, and apparently once scuffled with a dog, who bit off part of his ear! He has shared with us that he found God while in the 7th grade, and in 1978, met and married his wife, Donna, who is also a member of our team! He has worked in construction most of his life, traveling to 7 different states. He moved back to Cedaredge in 1994, but then moved to Phoenix in 2010, where he worked for a home medical equipment company. When Tom and Donna are not helping at Impact Cares events, they love to camp, fish, hike and travel.
Sponsor Highlight
Place articleNoffke Lumber Company gave a generous discount to be able to help the residents in their neighborhood. They even came out on Saturday to help keep us going!
