GRACE NOTES
~A weekly newsletter of grace and information~
September 28, 2025
Be a pointe of grace — God’s grace, to everyone you meet . . .
| | |
All are Welcome...and we mean ALL.
As people of Grace, made one in the waters of baptism, we are strengthened by diversity. We are a community that is committed to racial equity and welcomes people of every ability, age, citizenship status, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, language, life circumstance, marital status, political perspective, race, sexual orientation, and creed.
Whether you are a believer, doubter, or seeker, or something in between,
you are welcomed and valued here. We celebrate God’s unconditional love and respond joyfully to all of God’s diverse people present here.

Directory Renewal: Faces, Names, and the Future We’re Shaping Together
You Matter Here. Help us see and hear you.
You may notice something different in this month’s article. Where you’d usually see my photo, there’s a silhouette with a question mark. That’s intentional, a gentle nudge to say: We want to see you.
This October, we’re renewing our 2025–2026 congregation directory. Yes, it’s that time of year to update names, photos, and contact information, but more importantly, it’s about deepening connection, gathering energy, and preparing our hearts for the season ahead.
This renewed directory will be a vital tool for the Transition Team to connect with you. The team is committed to listening closely to each person in our community. As we discern future ministry and pastoral leadership needs, your voice matters. Your presence matters. And yes, your photo matters too.
Whether you’ve been part of this community for decades or just a few months, we warmly invite you to participate. The updated directory will help us recognize faces, remember names, and ensure everyone feels seen, heard, and known, especially as we approach our congregational meeting on November 16th and prepare to extend the call to a new pastor in the coming year.
And yes, adding your light to the directory will help me reach a personal goal: to remember your faces and names by November 16th.
May this directory reflect the full richness of our community. While we’re using the term participants to honor everyone’s presence as you’ll see on the form, we’ll also be identifying confirmed baptized members for voting purposes as part of the pastoral transition process.
Please submit your updated information and most recent photo by October 15th. Update sheets will be available on the first two Sundays of October, or click here to submit your information online. Please email your photo to office@pointeofgracechurch.org.
If you’re unsure how you’d like to be approached by the Transition Team whether by email, phone, or through a ministry you’re part of, simply let us know by selecting your preferences on the form. We want this process to feel respectful, relational, and rooted in care.
Let’s build something beautiful together.
With gratitude, Pr. Jade

Coffee, Doughnuts, & Prayer
Saturday, Sept. 27 from 9:00-10:00am
(4th Saturday of each month)
Every 4th Saturday of the month, we will gather at 9:00AM at the church for Coffee, Doughnuts, & Prayer. “I mean, what could be better than that, those are my three favorite things!” After enjoying a few minutes of greetings, some excellent Lutheran coffee, and Henry’s Doughnuts, we will gather in the sanctuary for a very simple time of prayer. We will sit in a circle and offer whatever prayers we bring. You can speak your prayers out loud, or silently in your heart. You can offer as many prayers as you want and for whatever you want. It has been our experience that this always feels like a holy and precious time. Come and join us, we look forward to meeting you and being in God’s presence together.

Parenting Class with Love & Logic
3rd Sunday of Each month at 11 am in Meeting Room
Starts October 19
When kids hit their teen years, parenting takes on a whole new dimension. Along with that, kids are frequently dealing with the challenges of social media and other technologies that we didn't have as kids ourselves. Still, we want them ready for their adult lives ahead while empowering them to make positive decisions and learning from their mistakes. We are offering a parenting class and support group to help gain new perspectives and strategies as parents.
We meet the 3rd Sunday of every month at 11am in the Meeting Room. The class is taught by Karl Olson, church member, Love and Logic trainer, educator, and parent. If you have any questions please e-mail Karl at karltolson@gmail.com
While parenting can feel lonely, this is a chance to come together to celebrate and collaborate.

Bi-Annual Convention of the
Women of the NW WA Synod
Sat, October 4th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran, Lynnwood / Cost $45
Our Bi-Annual Convention will soon be here, and it would be great to see you all there! For information and to register, CLICK HERE.
We need one delegate from each church attending to be at the business meeting held at the beginning portion of the convention. If you are the only one from your church attending…you are the voting delegate, otherwise please elect one woman (of those attending) to be your delegate.
Our speaker for the day is Pastor Mary Lindborg who will be using Psalm 16:11as she shares “You (God) Show Me the Path of Life”. During our time together, we will explore both our own journeys and the way our journeys intersect with other women's paths, such as Lutheran women from different times and places. God shows us the path of life one step at a time, some of which are only clear in hindsight. Let's help each other reflect on the path of life we walk as women of faith. (Pastor Lindborg’s bio was in the spring ECHO newsletter.)
Please fill out the registration form and send it with your check to our board treasurer, Linda Rudy, by September 12th.
Please think about bringing a friend, carpooling, and enjoying a delightful day with other women of faith! I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at the convention!
With Hope and Thankfulness ~ Twyla Lucas, president of NW WA WELCA

“United in Faith: A Call to Action” is an ecumenical gathering of progressive people of faith in south Snohomish county and north King county, and beyond, who unite to stand together against tyranny and injustice. Organizer of the event is the Edmonds United Methodist Church Political Action group.
We gather in Edmonds as part of a growing national and global movement of faithful resistance—standing in solidarity to protect the integrity of our democracy, the depth of our values, and the soul of our shared future.
By coming together, we embolden our neighbors, support our civic institutions, and bear witness to a God of justice and love.

We acknowledge
that our service is being held on the original and ancestral homelands of the Salish Coastal peoples, and we give thanks for their presence here since time of old. We remember and celebrate the Indigenous peoples and tribal nations who were the first to love, pray, grow, celebrate, cry, drum, and sing upon these lands. We also wish to recognize and honor all our Indigenous siblings who have and continue to call this land their home.
May all of us work towards learning and growing, and sharing in the journey towards truth and healing – especially as we work to fulfill our commitments as stated in "A Declaration of the ELCA to American Indian and Alaska Native People” as well as the 2022 Resolution that was passed by the Northwest Washington Synod Council to renew, restore, continue and grow in relationship with the Indigenous peoples who are our neighbors.
