Morse at the Special Olympics Unified Program

Students from Lincoln, Morse, San Diego, and Scripps Ranch high schools took the field Thursday for the latest offering in Unified Sports, a Special Olympics program that brings players of all abilities together in friendly competition.

At this week's event, students in special education programs took part in soccer matches and skills practice alongside their general education peers, including members of the schools' soccer teams, and played in historic Balboa Stadium before a crowd of family members and student supporters.

The Unified program is designed to promote social inclusion by creating school climates where students with disabilities feel welcome, and are routinely included in and feel a part of all activities, opportunities and events.

Morse High School was named a Special Olympics Unified Champion School in 2019, a fulfillment of the vision Adaptive P.E. Teacher Deirdre Fabian had worked towards for years.

Morse High School Garden Clean up!

In honor of Earth Day 2022, Morse culinary arts teacher, Mrs. Coelho, organized a garden clean up that transformed Morse's garden into the amazing learning and growing space it once was. Morse is so thankful for the volunteers who weed-wacked, raked, cut, and more to help uncover this garden.

We want to thank the following community members who donated their time and resources to make it happen...Community Master gardeners, Muriel King & Heather Holland; volunteers from (Phi Beta Sigma fraternity); Morse students; Janet Whited (recycling coordinator for SDUSD) and District 4 Council president Ms. Monica Montgomery.

Giving Back to the Community

Morse alumni, Shane Harris, was instrumental in organizing an initiative to give free gas to families in need. He is an excellent Tiger role model for giving back to our community in a time of need.
