APRIL 2023 NEWSLETTER

Morse's JROTC passed their JPA (JROTC Program of Accreditation)!


The JPA consists of the following:


The Service Learning Project Brief (95%) - Morse's Tiger Pantry


The Continuous Improvement Project (97.86%) - Morse's tutoring and mentorship program


The Cadet Portfolio Interview and Inspection (93.25%) - Several Cadets at each grade level have to answer questions and show written work in their portfolio


The Unit Report (100%) - This is our report from the previous year that we get points for each event we participate in (parades, color guards, drill events and community service)


The in ranks inspection (100%) - uniform inspection from an outside inspector (recruiters conducted our inspection)


The Color Guard inspection (100%) - CG is inspected by an outside inspector (recruiters conducted our inspection)


The instructor's portfolios (100%) - Each Army Instructor has to maintain a portfolio


"Our students did amazing and we are so proud of them.

This was the 1st year that our portfolios were inspected and the 1st year that we all used an online portfolio system."--JROTC Instructors

On June 14, 2023, Morse will graduate our Class of 2023. To help students and parents keep up with all of the senior activities, we have created a special website with all of the details.

Honor Roll Assembly



On Thursday, April 27th, Morse will recognize and honor 438 students in grades 9-12 for making the Semester 1 Honor Roll. In order to make the Honor Roll, students had to have earned a weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher. During the assembly, Morse will also recognize our students who have perfect attendance for the school year and our students who earned their English Learner Reclassification. 


Morse is truly proud of our student scholars! Congratulations and keep up the excellent work!

TIGER TALES

On March 26, 2023, Morse's Just Keep Living after school club participated in the San Diego Half Marathon. Please congratulate Perla Abarca and Brian Garcia who completed their FIRST Half Marathon!

COUNSELING CORNER

Summer School will be held at Canyon Hills High School (formerly Serra High). 

June 20-July 21 (5 weeks)

9:30am-2:30pm

Students can take up to four classes

Transportation will be provided or students can use your own transportation. 

Student counselor will sign you up during articulation (Feb-Apr). 


CRASH #3 will begin Apr. 25th.

If you are enrolled in CRASH, make sure to keep up with the work and turn it in regularly. 


Lots of scholarships are available for seniors… FREE MONEY!

Every seniors should be applying to AT LEAST five scholarships.

WELLNESS CENTER

The Wellness Center (Rm 100) is a safe, non-judgmental, inclusive space for all high school students. We cultivate a positive school climate & our students come first.

We have groups, one-on-one Wellness Check-Ins, Life Skills

Education, Student-Led Wellness opportunities, Activities (mindfulness, coping skills, exercise, art, self-care etc.), On The Go Snacks & much more.


The Wellness center offers a unique model that includes a team of highly trained FamilyYouth Partners, supervised by a licensed mental health clinician to provide: 

  • Short term case management to coordinate care, and link to appropriate

      resources and services. 

  • Mentoring and coaching to help families navigate through behavioral health, physical healthcare, education, child welfare, legal, and juvenile justice systems.
  • Strengthening support networks for families
  • Advocating for parents and caregivers by attending key meetings, such as for Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and court hearings. 
  • Educating the community on a variety of behavioral health topics. 


What’s Happening in the Wellness Center

Support Groups are starting this month:

Anxiety, Stress Management, Grief & Community Building 

 

Walk-in hours are during lunch and after-school.

Any other time a pass or appointment is necessary.
