Representative Maney can trace military service members in his family all the way back to the French & Indian War in the mid-1700's. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and deployed overseas four times; sustaining life threatening injuries in Afghanistan during the last of those deployments. Because of these reasons and many more, Veteran's Day holds a special place in Representative Maney's heart.
At the reception he, and dozens of other servicemembers and veterans, received at Ruckel Middle School was spectacular. After breakfast and a performance by the Ruckel Choir, every student came out to cheer as the service members and veterans made their way to the gym. Representative Maney spoke about service and his experiences serving in the military, sprinkling in amusing anecdotes, trivia, and some life advice for the students. Many of the students knew the answers to several of his historical trivia questions, demonstrating the quality of the education at Ruckel Middle.
Thank you, Ruckel Middle School and principal Joe Jannazo, for the fantastic reception and ceremony.
