Hello all!

I'm Lisa Goldsmith, the founder of Headed to Africa.

For our upcoming trip to South Africa in June 2024, I'm thrilled to be partnering with world-renowned conservationist Grant Fowlds and the Project Rhino team for some exceptional safari game drives and exciting hands-on conservation experiences.

We have 4 spots available! I would love for you to join us. More information about this trip can be found on our website by clicking the link below.

Headed to Africa is all about bringing together like-minded adventurers for customized safaris that dive into wildlife conservation. These safaris are curated by expert specialist guides and conservationists.

Project Rhino is a non-profit organization that leads rhino conservation efforts to eliminate rhino poaching and to secure the white and black rhino populations of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Thanks to our partnerships with amazing non-profit organizations such as Project Rhino, we are able to offer a uniquely enriching and immersive safari experience for our guests while participating in the protection of Africa's incredible wildlife.

I've travelled with the Project Rhino team several times over the years, and I've had many great moments and opportunities with them. Grant Fowlds is one of the most charismatic and entertaining story tellers with a wealth of knowledge of 'wildlife conservation and the African Bush'. I'm sure he's lived at least 9 lives by now!

You will visit:

  • the Project Rhino anti-poaching ranger unit,
  • their K9 anti-poaching unit,
  • a rhino orphanage,
  • and a local school and community that Project Rhino works frequently with.

You will meet:

  • wildlife veterinarians and management teams. We will have the opportunity to work side by side with them as they perform a rhino dehorning or a rhino tagging. These are medical procedures that are necessary to protect African rhinos from poaching.

Safari Game Drives:

We will travel deep into the African bush on our game drives in order to roam the remote, wild landscapes and to avoid crowds. A flexible schedule ensures that we will have ample time for photography and sundowners (snacks/drinks at sunset in the bush)!

Tips and Facts About the African Bush:

  • No need to overpack.
  • Whisper at sightings, and be respectful of the animals.
  • Connect with the local communities; you'll make lifelong friends.
  • There are only two northern white rhinos remaining in the world. Najin and Fatu (both female), and they live under constant protection from poachers in Kenya’s Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
