Volume 3 / January 2024

   LAST MONTH…

December was a wonderful time with our families!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out with their families for the Country Christmas Train. We do hope everyone had a great time.

We hope everyone had a

Merry Christmas!

We hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

Recipe of the month:

Crêpe

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

½ cup milk

½ cup water

¼ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

Whisk flour and eggs together in a large mixing bowl; gradually add in milk and water, stirring to combine. Add salt and melted butter; beat until smooth.

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crêpe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.

Cook until the top of the crêpe is no longer wet and the bottom has turned light brown, 1 to 2 minutes. Run a spatula around the edge of the skillet to loosen the crêpe; flip and cook until the other side has turned light brown, about 1 minute more. Serve hot.

Enjoy!

What to expect this month

Sweet January!

There isn't much the public can do at the FarmPark for a while.

We take this time to clean up and put away all the Christmas decorations and that process takes a few weeks when done properly. We have them stored in 5 tractor trailers, 2 moving trucks and 2 storage buildings that we have on the back of our property.

We want to remind everyone that as of January 2023 we no longer are a venue for weddings. We have stopped taking new bookings and wish to remind everyone as they plan out their year.

We also start taking new camping applications for the upcoming Military, Pickers and Bluegrass festival. If you are interested in camping at our events then you can go to DentonFarmPark.com and on that events page you will find a red button at the bottom that will give you the camping application we need before we are able to book your request. You can also send us an email directly.

The Year of Peach Fuzz

By: Christina Frost

Every year, around the first of January, I always post Pantone’s Color of the Year. I don’t know when I started to notice this company announcing what “the official color of the year” is, and I’m not sure what all goes into making that decision. I will say, though, they almost always have this uncanny ability to match my mood or prospective view of what the year may hold.

I was excited about this year’s color because it is Pantone’s 13-1023 Peach Fuzz. This color is described as “a cozy and comforting hue nurturing compassion and heartfelt kindness.”

What’s ironic about the hue they chose is we often think of our baby girl as a peach. She is soft, pink, a little squishy, and her peach fuzz hair sticks out all over the place now. As she approaches her one year birthday, we reflect on the fact she’s completely taken over our lives in the hardest but best of ways, and the entirety of 2024 will be one long celebration of watching her pass new milestones and getting to know her better day by day.

I’ve certainly had to embrace a softer more compassionate life since she came into our family. I’ve had to slowly let go of my perfectionism, negative self-talk, and my need to control every situation. I had to do this in order to stay sane and survive, and it’s funny how babies help you keep what’s important in perspective.

Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of Pantone’s Color Institute says this about Peach Fuzz, “In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”

I don’t think many people would argue the past number of years have been challenging in lots of different ways. So much has gone on in the world, and it’s easy for us to lean toward division and negativity. Therefore, in 2024, I want to welcome bridges of kindness and seek understanding toward those who aren’t always easy to love or who can give us much in return. Maybe Peach Fuzz can remind us of that.

Let’s give our hearts a break in 2024, and usher in more gentle words and courageous compassion for ourselves and everyone around us.

From our hearts to yours, may you be blessed in unexpected ways this year with new growth, the making of great memories, and joyful opportunities awaiting you around every corner.

Happy New Year!

Jeremiah 29: 11-13

“'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart”.

Happy New Year
