Finds in the Forest

Finds in the forest can be fun and quite interesting, but sometimes they need to be reported to our hard working trail crew, such as downed trees and drainage issues. The above images are of the trailhead for the Community Access Trail System (CATS) at Vernon Street (Bethel Village) which is temporarily closed.

The CATS is a multi-use trail system that has been a key project for IWT since the organization's founding in 2011. With a goal of connecting Mount Abram in Greenwood to Sunday River Resort in Newry via Bethel Village, this exciting opportunity to connect multiple communities through outdoor recreation needs support from the community to address the significant drainage issues at the Vernon Street trail connection.

To rebuild the trail, gravel fill is needed in addition to installing several drainage culverts and replacing a bridge. This work is currently estimated at costing approximately $50,000. Several donors have pledged/donated $15,833 to kickstart our fundraising efforts, and we hope you will join them in helping with this very important project.
