Mozingo Lake's Sechrest 18 to Undergo Major Bunker Renovation This Fall


The Sechrest 18, a centerpiece of Mozingo Lake Recreation Park’s golf facilities, is set for major renovations this fall.

The 18-hole course, designed by renowned Midwest golf architect Donald Sechrest and completed in 1995, will soon see upgrades to its iconic but high-maintenance bunkers, according to Mozingo Director Jordan Greenhaw.



Maryville schools work on their first five-year comprehensive plan


The Maryville R-II School District is working on its Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. A CSIP is a formal planning document which schools maintain as part of their accreditation process. CSIPs provide a structure to continuously improve school services and student outcomes.

St. Joseph to be new home of GLVC postseason basketball


The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Wednesday that its men's and women's basketball tournaments will be coming to St. Joseph in 2027.

The GLVC is partnering with the St. Joseph Sports Commission after three years in St. Charles on the Lindenwood University campus. The Civic Arena will now be the home to the event each March for the next three years.


Downtown Maryville to Host Fall Clean-Up Day Saturday Morning


Downtown Maryville will host its Fall Clean-Up Day on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 7 to 10 a.m. Volunteers will gather at the Downtown Pocket Park, located at the intersection of Third and Main streets. Tasks will include picking up litter, pulling weeds and other efforts to spruce up the downtown area.

Mark your calendars for 16th Annual Missouri’s Great Northwest Winefest, October 11th, 2025! Each winery holds their own unique tastes and grape varieties and specialty named wines – some of which are made with grapes grown right here in Northwest MO. This year they are opening their festival to include local SPIRITS! One ticket includes all-inclusive sampling of spirits and a souvenir wine glass to the first 1,500 visitors. Guests can leisurely shop the various booths, enjoy wine tastings, food, live music, and grape stomping.

Morning Conversation


Jamie Grayson, a graduate of Missouri Western, had a career in the financial industry before founding the non-profit People of all Communities Succeeding Together. Based in Kansas City, POAC Succeed aims to address social issues by working with students and pushing for a wholistic approach to education.

Spoofhound Interview


Maryville football steps out of conference play for a meeting with one of the top teams in the state. Lutheran North, ranked No. 2 in Class 4 and the defending state champions, visit the 'Hound Pound Friday night. Spoofhound head coach Matt Webb and senior Cain Bowles joined us to highlight the matchup with the Crusaders and the opportunity to recognize area law enforcement and first responders prior to the game.

Jim Svoboda has deep ties to Northwest and Central Missouri, and shares a special relationship with head coaches John McMenamin and Josh Lamberson. He joins Bearcat Rewind this week ahead of the showdown in Warrensburg.

Jaden Varner is a Sports Media major with a minor in Broadcasting from Brookfield, Missouri. On campus, he serves as the producer of Bearcat Update, works with CatVision for Northwest Athletics, and is part of the team at KXCV-KRNW Public Radio as an on-air announcer and board operator.
