What's Cookin'

by Chef Jeremy Melusky

Hi everyone!

April was a fantastic month for TacT, highlighted by another successful High Tea Luncheon and strong meal service across the community.

  • We provided 1,443 meals overall, including 60 meals at our Monthly Community Dinner sponsored by Regional Insurance Agency.
  • This week’s Community Dinner will feature a Mexican theme.

May is one of my favorite months. Lacrosse is in full swing, Mother’s Day is here, it’s time to plant seedlings in my raised beds, and New England fishing season is just getting started, not to mention Cinco de Mayo.

It is the perfect time to share two of my favorite recipes: Pork Carnitas and Ceviche. During a visit to Cabo San Lucas, I took a refresher class on making ceviche and had a wonderful time. Pork carnitas has long been one of my signature dishes, and I’m proud to say it is award-winning. A few years ago, Wendy, her son Andrew, and I won first place in a Taunton cooking competition with our pork carnitas. I’m excited to share this recipe because it is easy to make and very forgiving.

Best Regards,

Jeremy

Tea at TacT!

Our third annual Tea at TacT fundraiser, held on Saturday, May 2, was a sold-out success, raising $2,950 to support our mission. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of tea, small sandwiches, and desserts, all of which were prepared by our staff, guest chef and our volunteers. We look forward to bringing this special event back again next year.

We are grateful for the support of our generous corporate sponsors who made this event possible, Amber's Pet Care and Light Up the Night.

Welcome Mike Schoaf

Mike joined TacT in April filling a void left by Marianne Draghi's retirement. He retired from Performance Foodservice in July 2025 after selling food and supplies to restaurants for 30 years. He has loved cooking for large groups since working in restaurants as a teenager. He has been assisting with fundraising for over 20 years at the North Congressional Church in Middleboro and through these efforts he knows Jackie from our Thursday crew. Jackie introduced him to TacT knowing his background makes him a great fit. His retirement hobbies are tent camping, hiking, cooking, traveling, playing pool and going to the gym.
