New Classes and Class Size Changes
In the Reiki class section below are listed the current schedule of classes. Last year, we tried working with a new hotel, but could not get the minimum number needed to work there, so classes were cancelled. Unfortunately, the hotel is shy about working with us now.
From this point forward, all classes will be taught at the Caring Palms Healing Arts Studio. Due to the space constraint, classes will be limited to two (2) students. If you see a class you want, sign up for it. If it is filled up, we can always make another class on any day as long as there are two people willing to take it. So if you have someone that wants to take the class with you, and a date is not available, call the studio and we can make a class date for you.
There is a Reiki 4 (Reiki with crystals) class tentatively scheduled. If this happens, it will be at a private residence. Keep watching here for more information.

Endings/Beginnings
by Brian Dean
Seeing as we’re starting a new year, it’s time for the annual article on endings and beginnings. Of course, we could talk about continuations, and how things will continue on the paths they are going. It is almost like sameness, but with a twist.
Years ago, when I had my day job we used to have a saying (we used to have several but those don’t pertain here)… SSDD. Same Shtuff, Different Day. Of course, at the end of the year, that got changed to SSDY. Yeah, you got it.
But is the same stuff really a bad thing? We feel comfortable with the common, whether it be good or bad. There is something there that meets our expectations, and something we are used to. But once we label something ‘new’, it takes on a whole new meaning and connotation. Do we look at this as a beginning? A new product?
According to the law, you can only call something ‘new’ for a short period of time, like six months. Many years ago, Dick Van Dyke created a new show called “The New Dick Van Dyke Show”. To keep the word ‘new’ in the name, he had to legally change his name to New Dick Van Dyke.) But when we look at a new year, yeah, six months in and the new and shiny has gone away.
But we look at something like this as endings and beginnings as it creates an event, an event where one can make changes in themselves, in what they do, how they approach things. The end of a year seems to be a momentous time since it seems like something big, but one doesn’t have to wait for a big event to make changes. In fact, we can create our own events and use these as impetus to start something. Like, how about 4pm on Tuesday? Or 10am on Saturday? Either is as good a time as any.
The point is that you don’t need to wait some magical time to start making changes or decisions. And you don’t need to wait until you’re whole, or financially sound, or well to start doing something new and different. I have heard too many times that someone is waiting for something to happen before they make changes. The problem is that this ‘time’ never comes. “If I live in this state, I’ll be happy.” No, you will be happy when you make up your mind to be happy.
So I wish you a happy new year. I hope that you approach it with hope, not fear, with positive thoughts, not negative ones. You have 366 possibilities (yes, it’s a leap year) to make yourself better, 366 events. Do it.

I Wish For You
by Brian Dean
supplied by Spirit
We all make resolutions, and most are broken within a few weeks of the date we start. So this year, I’m making wishes.
I wish for you…
- That you take the positivity of any given moment, and extend it forward.
- That you know you are never alone as spirit is always there with you.
- That you make decisions (even the hard ones) with the knowledge that it is the best choice, and it brings about positive change (whether it feels like it at the moment or not).
- That each day is a chance to do your best at whatever you do.
- That you know there is always hope.
- That if you are angered or worried, you let that go, letting hope and positive energy replace them.
- That you approach each day with an attitude of “I can”.
- That you look at every problem as a challenge to solve that will open into something fantastic.
- That you know that every moment is an opportunity to do better.
- That you can handle any issue by saying “Hold my beer. I’ve got this.”
And I wish for you that you take the positive feeling and energy of this moment, and carry it over the next 366 days and beyond.

Featured Shirt of the Month
Since people do not see the t-shirt designs too often, a new shirt will be featured each month.

Caring Palms schedules Reiki classes throughout the year. Because we can not hold them at the studio as we have in the past, we are holding them at another location, and this incurs additional cost. Therefore, we are not scheduling as many classes as we used to. We are also holding classes for a minimum 4 or more students. We also need to let the class site know a week before the class date whether we will be having it or not. So, if you are interested, sign up early.
The following is a list of currently scheduled Reiki Classes. Each class (unless otherwise marked) currently has a status of 'Scheduled'. This means that a date has been set, but no one has signed up for it yet. Once a deposit has been received for a class, the status will be 'Confirmed'. Any class marked as 'Closed' has filled up. (Note: In some cases, one may be able to enter a class marked 'Closed' with permission of the instructor.) Because we are renting the location per use, each class requires a minimum of two (2) students to happen.
You may sign up for any of these through the website, or over the phone with a credit card.
Reiki 1
- Saturday January 27th , 10am - 5(ish)pm
Reiki 2
- Saturday February 24th , 10am - 5(ish)pm
Reiki 3
- Saturday March 23rd , 10am - 5(ish)pm
Reiki 4
- Saturday April 27th , 10am - 5(ish)pm
More classes will be added based on how the ones currently on the schedule go.
All classes are open to anyone wanting to learn this unique method of hands-on healing. The cost for each class is $150 no matter what level of Reiki the class is for. A $75 deposit is required a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the class date (or permission of the instructor) to reserve a space in the class. Full payment must be received two (2) days before the class date. Classes with no deposits received by the cut off date will be canceled. All class statuses may be viewed under Reiki, Reiki Class Information, and Class Schedule. You can also sign up for classes there. (Check the website for the location.)
Reiki 1, 2, and 3 classes are Florida Board of Massage Approved for six (6) Continuing Education Hours (CEUs)

Leave a Review, Enter Our Drawing
|
Leave a review and be entered in a drawing to win a free session. If you have enjoyed the services at Caring Palms, whether that be massage, Reiki, or classes, or something else, please leave a review on one of the review sites like Google, Facebook, or any of the many places that take reviews. Lately, it has been these reviews that have been bringing new clients into the studio, and all have been glad they found us.
Anyone leaving a review will be entered into the monthly drawing to win a free session (massage or Reiki). Reviews made between the first and last day of each month will go into the drawing, and the winner will be pulled on the first of every month. Thank you all that have left reviews, and congratulations to the people who have already won free sessions.
Note: We are asking people not to post on Yelp unless you are a person that posts there regularly. Yelp has some qualifying software that looks at each review, and if you are a regular poster, your comment is deemed "Relevant", otherwise your comment is marked "Not Relevant". While Caring Palms has 20 5-star reviews on Yelp, only seven of them are deemed "Relevant", and one has to go through another step to see the remaining 13.

Brian is now doing readings to anyone that wants to sit for one for $50 for up to one hour. Keep in mind, these are mediumship readings, not psychic readings. If you have an interest, please contact Brian and something can be scheduled. These can also be scheduled from the website. For more information on readings, please go to the Mediumship tab on the website, and then you can see several articles about mediumship including what to expect, and what happens during a session.

Did you know that Caring Palms offers a Referral Bonus? Forward this newsletter to people you know, and if they come in for a session and give your name, you will get $5 off your next purchase. And the beauty of this is that it is cumulative. If two people come in, you get $10 off your next purchase, three people, $15 off, and so forth. So if you know people that could benefit from any of the services we offer (and everyone can), forward this newsletter to them. If they come in, you will benefit as well.
