Welcome to this month's Caring Palms Healing Arts newsletter. This month, we have an article for you and news about more classes.
I hope you enjoy what has been compiled here.

Upcoming Classes
There are new classes available on the website. The first is a Reiki 3 happening in three weeks (which is happening), and one class of each level happening in October, November, and December respectively.
The website is currently taking payments for these classes. If you are interested in any of these classes, please sign up for them as soon as possible.
Note: Caring Palms is currently in negotiations with the Holiday Inn for these dates. Currently, Caring Palms has been paying a rent of $162 per use. According to the contract just received, the rent for the space has gone up to approximately $216. This is more than a 30% increase. It also states that I need to give them 5 days notice if I need to cancel. (With the old manager, I could cancel same day without penalty.) I am still talking with them so things may change. I am also looking at other venues which unfortunately seem to be few and far between, at least at reasonable prices.
If we continue to use this place, and the rent increase holds, the price of classes will have to increase by at least $25. Right now, the prices on the website have not changed, and will not until we have solid information. If you want to take any classes at the current price, sign up now. Keep watching the website for changes.

Late Newsletter Again
I offer apologies for again getting the newsletter out later than normal. As you know from the last newsletter, my wife’s mother passed away a month ago. Because of this, my days not at the studio have been filled with packing up her house, moving heavy furniture and bins of things to various places. That has been leaving me brain dead in the evenings. Hopefully, these things will calm down soon and I’ll have some time to do things at a normal pace. Thank you for your understanding.

If I Knew Then
by Brian Dean
Did you ever have one of those songs stuck in your head? Of course, we all do. Mine usually run the gamut of TV theme songs to rock and roll to classical. And then there’s the dreaded Hokey Pokey.
Right now, the lyrics going through my head are… “I wish I knew what I know now, when I was younger”. I keep hearing this, and thought, don’t we all. How many situations would I have handled differently if I had the knowledge I do now. I can think of all the times I was bullied, all the times I was too shy to talk to someone, all the times I was afraid to open my mouth. Yes, if I had had the knowledge and experience I do know, I certainly would have handled things differently. But knowledge is not the key word here, experience is.
Through experience, we gain knowledge. That is the only way real knowledge is accumulated. Sure, I can recite facts that I learned in school. Yes, I can do math. But experience gives me the knowledge to know I should not touch a hot burner on the stove.
Through living our lives, we gain knowledge, or life experience might be a better term. We have to do the stupid things to know what the smart things are. We have to get hit to know to duck a punch. We have to go out in the cold without a coat to know that it can make one sick. We need to make bad plans to know that there were better ones. Basically, we need to make mistakes as that is how we learn. Yes, the old scientific principle that says you try many things until you find the right one. We need to have the stupid ideas to know that they were stupid.
For the most part, we have to fail to know how not to fail. If we succeeded at everything, we would be perfect, and we know that nobody is. There has to be balance, and balance comes from accumulating the knowledge from failure and success, though we hope that lends more to the successful side.
Through failure, through mistakes, and even through success, we gain knowledge, knowledge that comes from experience. And knowledge accumulated through experience is growth. As long as we continue to grow, we will learn.
So, while it would be nice to have our current knowledge when we were younger, we needed grow to learn what we know now.

Featured Shirt of the Month
Since people do not see the t-shirt designs too often, a new shirt will be featured each month.

Caring Palms schedules Reiki classes throughout the year. Because we can not hold them at the studio as we have in the past, we are holding them at another location, and this incurs additional cost. Therefore, we are not scheduling as many classes as we used to. We are also holding classes for a minimum 4 or more students. We also need to let the class site know a week before the class date whether we will be having it or not. So, if you are interested, sign up early.
The following is a list of currently scheduled Reiki Classes. Each class (unless otherwise marked) currently has a status of 'Scheduled'. This means that a date has been set, but no one has signed up for it yet. Once a deposit has been received for a class, the status will be 'Confirmed'. Any class marked as 'Closed' has filled up. (Note: In some cases, one may be able to enter a class marked 'Closed' with permission of the instructor.) Because we are renting the location per use, each class requires a minimum of four (4) students to happen.
You may sign up for any of these through the website, or over the phone with a credit card.
Reiki 1
- Saturday, October 7, 10am - 5(ish)pm
Reiki 2
- Saturday, November 4, 10am - 5(ish)pm
Reiki 3
- Saturday, September 23, 10am - 5(ish)pm Confirmed
- Saturday, December 2, 10am - 5(ish)pm
Reiki 4
More classes will be added based on how the ones currently on the schedule go.
All classes are open to anyone wanting to learn this unique method of hands-on healing. The cost for each class is $150 no matter what level of Reiki the class is for. A $75 deposit is required a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the class date (or permission of the instructor) to reserve a space in the class. Full payment must be received two (2) days before the class date. Classes with no deposits received by the cut off date will be canceled. All class statuses may be viewed under Reiki, Reiki Class Information, and Class Schedule. You can also sign up for classes there. (Check the website for the location.)
Reiki 1, 2, and 3 classes are Florida Board of Massage Approved for six (6) Continuing Education Hours (CEUs)

Leave a Review, Enter Our Drawing
|
Leave a review and be entered in a drawing to win a free session. If you have enjoyed the services at Caring Palms, whether that be massage, Reiki, or classes, or something else, please leave a review on one of the review sites like Google, Facebook, or any of the many places that take reviews. Lately, it has been these reviews that have been bringing new clients into the studio, and all have been glad they found us.
Anyone leaving a review will be entered into the monthly drawing to win a free session (massage or Reiki). Reviews made between the first and last day of each month will go into the drawing, and the winner will be pulled on the first of every month. Thank you all that have left reviews, and congratulations to the people who have already won free sessions.
Note: We are asking people not to post on Yelp unless you are a person that posts there regularly. Yelp has some qualifying software that looks at each review, and if you are a regular poster, your comment is deemed "Relevant", otherwise your comment is marked "Not Relevant". While Caring Palms has 20 5-star reviews on Yelp, only seven of them are deemed "Relevant", and one has to go through another step to see the remaining 13.

Brian is now doing readings to anyone that wants to sit for one for $50 for up to one hour. Keep in mind, these are mediumship readings, not psychic readings. If you have an interest, please contact Brian and something can be scheduled. These can also be scheduled from the website. For more information on readings, please go to the Mediumship tab on the website, and then you can see several articles about mediumship including what to expect, and what happens during a session.

At Caring Palms, we pledge to do the best work we can at every session. We not only do this to continue to earn your business, but because we believe that you deserve the best care possible every time you are here. This is true whether it is massage, or energy work, or classes. This is our promise. This is what we will continue to do.

Did you know that Caring Palms offers a Referral Bonus? Forward this newsletter to people you know, and if they come in for a session and give your name, you will get $5 off your next purchase. And the beauty of this is that it is cumulative. If two people come in, you get $10 off your next purchase, three people, $15 off, and so forth. So if you know people that could benefit from any of the services we offer (and everyone can), forward this newsletter to them. If they come in, you will benefit as well.
