Reiki Class TBA

Currently, there is only one Reiki class on the books with people interested in it. Because all classes are being held at the studio, there is a limit to two students (Reiki 1 and 3). As people have been asking me about classes, I have been telling them that I will take their information, and as soon as another student shows up, I will book a class. This will be the case moving forward as for some reason, we have not gotten the large number of students we had in past years.

I can create a class for any two people on any day between Tuesday and Saturday. Just call and tell be you are interested, and we can get something set up. Don’t wait for it to show up on the schedule. Call and ask.
Belief
by Spirit and Brian Dean

We If you are starting this article thinking that this is going to go in a certain direction, better keep reading.

What do we believe? I did not say ‘believe in’, I said ‘believe’. Sure there have been plenty of articles on faith, and putting your belief into something positive. But I want to know what you truly believe.

We are going through times where we are believing some high school dropout over experts who have studied their crafts for years. And we can find pieces of misinformation all over the internet, yes, the internet where we know everything is true. (not)

I had a client years ago that came in for a Reiki session. He changed into pajama bottoms as he read that Reiki goes through cotton better. It does not, but that was what he believed because he read it on the internet and assumed it was fact.

Recently a lady booked a major chakra cleansing and had to postpone as she was heading out of town and did not want to be drained of energy. (Actually, she had this done somewhere else and was drained. That person must have pulled out the blocking energy and not replaced it. The first rule of energy says that if you remove energy, you should replace it.) My process involves cleansing with white light which adds energy making one feel energized.

I taught Reiki 1 to someone many years ago. She told me going into it that she was told she would be sick afterward as all the toxins would come out of her body. True? No. Did she get sick? Yes, because she believed she would, and in my almost 30 years of teaching, she was the only one to do so.

A few years ago, I was getting ready to do Reiki on a client, and had told her to lay down on the table. The first thing she asked was “Don’t I need to get undressed?” Well, no, as Reiki goes through clothing. That was followed up with, “Are you sure?” Let’s see, I’ve only been doing this for 20 some odd years. Uhh, I think so.

But this made me aware that I need to find out what people’s expectations are based on what they have read or heard. And sometimes if I do not meet their expectations in procedure or style, they will actually block the energies because it is not like what they were expecting.

And in the case of the person thinking they needed to be undressed, were they expecting to be covered with a sheet, or not. If energy will go through a sheet, it will go through clothes. But sometimes logic does not win out.

I get news headlines that come to my phone regularly. What I find out is that most of these headlines are not truly about the story, or that they are scare headlines to make you click on it. (Headline… This store will close all of its 300 locations. Story.. This grocery chain will close for Easter Sunday.) The trick is to not just believe the headline.

The thing is that we have to be careful of what we read and what we put our beliefs into. Look at it. Does it ring true? Or are you believing it because someone else said it?

Think. Use logic. Work it out for yourself. Ask questions. Figure out what answers ring true, and what do not. Trust yourself.
At the Filk in the Road

As far as headlines go, we did a filk (known tunes, new words) 5song years ago called I Read It In The Star which basically puts out funny headlines, but comes back with “I know its true”. Here are the words of the song with a link to the performance by my wife and two friends…

I Read It In The Star
By Brian Dean and Shirley Dean
(to the tune if Yellow Submarine)

I heard across the way,
they saw Elvis by the bay.
And I know that it's OK,
cause he was there with JFK.

(chorus) I know its true cause I read it in the Star,
read it in the Star, read it in the Star.
I know its true cause I read it in the Star,
at the grocery checkout today.

There are aliens on Mars,
say the photos from afar,
and we will visit them one day,
when we've finally found a way.

Did you know you can lose weight,
by eating everything on your plate?
The diet plan is quite sublime,
and it's yours for just $19.99.

I know its true cause I read it in the Star,
read it in the Star, read it in the Star.
(spoken at same time as second 'read it in the Star') There's aliens on Mars!
I know its true cause I read it in the Star,
at the grocery checkout today.

Did you know the human race,
did not start out from this place.
And there's proof of this you see,
they found space pods in Hawaii.

There's a man who has two heads,
he needs two pillows when in bed.
And a girl who is part horse,
but that's expected, of course, of course
(spoken after second 'of course') Oh Wilbur!

I know its true cause I read it in the Star,
read it in the Star, read it in the Star.
(spoken at same time as second 'read it in the Star') There's aliens on Mars!
I know its true cause I read it in the Star,
at the grocery checkout today.

The Star is really keen,
it's my favorite magazine.
And I know it's really true,
they wouldn't lie to me and you.

The pictures are so clear,
that they are real, I have no fear.
But the weirdest one I've seen,
is of a yellow submarine.

I know its true cause I read it in the Star,
read it in the Star, read it in the Star.
(spoken at same time as second 'read it in the Star') There's aliens on Mars!
I know its true cause I read it in the Star,
at the grocery checkout today.

Reiki Class Schedule
Reiki Gold
Caring Palms schedules Reiki classes throughout the year. We are currently holding these classes at the studio because we have not been getting enough students to cover the rising cost of conference room rentals. We are also limiting the class size to 2 students (Reiki 1 and Reiki 3, with a few more allowed for Reiki 2 as we only need one table for that).

The following is a list of currently scheduled Reiki Classes. Each class requires a minimum of two (2) students to happen.

Classes can be scheduled any day (Tuesday thru Saturday) provided there are no other appointments scheduled.

If you are interested in taking a class, and one is not listed, please call and one can be scheduled.

You may sign up for any of these through the website, or over the phone with a credit card.

Reiki 1
  • TBD - a class can be scheduled at any time for two students. If interested, please let us know.

Reiki 2
  • TBD

Reiki 3
  • TBD

Reiki 4
  • Saturday - To Be Determined

More classes will be added based on how the ones currently on the schedule go.

All classes are open to anyone wanting to learn this unique method of hands-on healing. The cost for each class is $150 no matter what level of Reiki the class is for. A $75 deposit is required a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the class date (or permission of the instructor) to reserve a space in the class. Full payment must be received two (2) days before the class date. Classes with no deposits received by the cut off date will be canceled. All class statuses may be viewed under Reiki, Reiki Class Information, and Class Schedule. You can also sign up for classes there. (Check the website for the location.)

Reiki 1, 2, and 3 classes are Florida Board of Massage Approved for six (6) Continuing Education Hours (CEUs)
London Bridge is Falling Down… yet another WTF moment
by Brian Dean

I woke the other morning to the news video of a bridge collapse in Baltimore, and it is yet another moment that I will remember every detail of. Previous (what I like to call) WTF moments include Kennedy’s assassination, the Challenger explosion, 9/11/01, the death of Princess Diana, and the Columbia breaking apart. With each of these instances, I can recall every detail of where I was, who was around me, and the exact sequence of events over hours and days.

As many know, I used to live 30 miles northeast of Baltimore. At one job as a computer programmer, I worked in a place called Linthicum, which is just an exit or two down the road the main Social Security headquarters in Woodlawn (and no, it looks nothing like the area they used in the Die Hard movie).

To drive from my house to work, I had to go through Baltimore through the Harbor Tunnel, a congested mass of traffic. When they opened the Francis Scott Key (poet who penned what became the national anthem) bridge, it gave me a lighter alternative. This bridge completed the circle that is I-695, the Baltimore beltway.

I remember crossing it in rain and sun. I remember just cresting the top one day and seeing a car parked on the uphill run on the other side. I was calling out a warning over the CB to those coming up the other side when I saw a policeman drive up very quickly, get out of his car and start running up to the other. Someone had just jumped.

What happened the other morning while being tragic, was also a miracle. It was four minutes from the point that the ship had trouble and notified authorities, and the time it hit the bridge. In that period, emergency vehicles were able to block off the bridge from both sides keeping the loss of life to a minimum. In fact, there were still cars on the bridge as little as 30 seconds before the collision.

Another moment I wish I had not had to see. Thanks go out to the first responders that got there quickly enough to stop traffic. Healing energies go out to the families of those lost, to those who will be stuck in commuter hell for the 4+ years, and to the people who work at the now shut down port, one of the busiest in the nation.

And healing energies go out to the universe in hopes that these WTF moments stop happening.
