Attention All Inventors in Grades K - 5 !!
Parents, is your child a creative and innovative thinker? Does he/she enjoy a challenge and have strong problem solving skills? If so, Invention Convention might be the perfect extracurricular challenge.
Invention Convention is a fun program that encourages students to identify problems and create innovative solutions through invention. Students follow a structured process similar to design thinking or the engineering design process, which involves indentifying a problem, researching, brainstorming, prototyping, and testing. In addition, students develop entrepreneurial skills like pitching their ideas, marketing their inventions, and understanding the business aspects of innovation.
Overall, Invention Convention provides a valuable opportunity for all students to develop their creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities. It also helps students build confidence, improve communication skills, and prepare for future success.
Students can work alone or in teams of two. team members do not need to be in the same grade or in the same school.
The 2024-2025 Delaware City Schools Invention Convention will be held in person. Inventors must have a finished project (completed journal, prototype of invention, and display board) and be ready for the judging competition on Thursday, March 20th.
