National Walk/Bike to School

October 16, 2024

On Wednesday, October 16th, Conger will partner with The Delaware Public Health District in encouraging students, parents, and staff to walk or bike to school.

By doing so, we hope to:

  • Reinforce students' and adults' traffic safety skills
  • Create and maintain safe walking spaces for students in our neighborhoods
  • Identify areas where we can make our neighborhoods more pedestrian friendly
  • Promote regular physical activity to stay strong and healthy
  • Encourage families to spend time together by walking and biking together
  • Decrease traffic congestion around our schools, improving the air we breathe

Let's all work together to make our community a more child- friendly place to walk and ride.

All students who walk or ride on October 16th will be greeted by Delaware Public Health staff and volunteers and will receive a small gift.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

Conger Elementary partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters to offer school-based support to our 3rd and 4th grade students! Students are matched with college volunteers from Ohio Wesleyan athletic programs, and these volunteers serve as friends and mentors, and some 3rd graders are able to work with SourcePoint volunteers, often working on many fun activities and projects together! Students meet with their “Big” here at Conger, typically on a weekly basis during lunch and/or recess, and they often continue meeting with them from year-to-year! If you would like to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity, please visit bbbs.tfaforms.net/4841623

and click "school based" to register as soon as possible. Spots are limited and may fill up quickly!

Hello Conger Family,

In honor of Veterans Day, we are organizing a school-wide competition to see which classroom can create the most heartfelt and creative thank you cards for local veterans. The cards will be distributed to veterans in the Delaware community to show our gratitude for their service.

Competition Details:

Who can participate? All classrooms, all students are invited to participate.

Goal: Each classroom will work together to create as many thank you cards as possible.

Criteria for Winning: The classroom that produces the most well-crafted thank you cards by the deadline will be declared the winner.

Prize:

The winning classroom will have the exciting opportunity to choose the color that Mr. Eddy's hair will be dyed! Will it be bright blue, fiery red, or something completely unexpected? The choice is yours!

Guidelines for Thank You Cards:

Creativity counts: Cards should be personalized and thoughtful, reflecting the students' appreciation for veterans.

Quality over quantity: While the number of cards matters, the quality and sincerity of each card will also be taken into account.

Deadline: All cards must be submitted by Thursday, November 7th.

Distribution: The thank you cards will be given to veterans in the local Delaware community as part of Veterans Day celebrations.

Let’s show our veterans how much we appreciate their service—and have a little fun by helping decide Mr. Eddy’s next hair color!
