8th Sunday after Pentecost

July 26, 2020
Click on the links below to read this Sunday's scriptures:
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.   Romans 8:26

Have you ever started to pray and realized you didn’t know how or what to pray? This is an occurrence that might be familiar when you feel overwhelmed by your circumstance or the strains and pressures of the world. James Dunn translates these words, “we do not know what to want” let alone how to ask for it in prayer. We are told that when the Spirit of God lives in us, it is this abiding presence that keeps our lives aligned with God’s will. We no longer have to come with the words ourselves to pray, but simply come before God with an openness that allows God’s Spirit to intercede in prayer through us.

A LETTER FROM COUNCIL AND THE TRANSITION TEAM is being mailed to you (and is posted as a link below) explaining the steps and procedures necessary for us to return to gathering indoors for worship and ministry activities.

The month of July is a TIME OF PRAYER for us as a congregation as we seek the Spirit’s guidance in considering two persons as nominees for election and appointment to a three year term beginning September 1 on Epiphany's Council. You may nominate members by submitting names to persons on the Nominating Committee (see article below). Your prayers are also requested as the Lutheran churches of the SC Synod ELECT A NEW BISHOP this Saturday at its virtual/online assembly (more info below).
We continue to offer Outdoor Worship with livestream each Sunday at 9:00am.
See you in the Parking Lot or online!

TIME OF PRAYERFUL DISCERNMENT FOR NOMINATIONS TO SERVE ON EPIPHANY'S COUNCIL - The members of the Council will serve three year terms (September-August), with two positions being filled every year before September. Council members may not serve consecutive terms. Each year in July, a congregational discernment process begins for a time of prayer to develop a list of potential members for the council from the congregation.
The Nominating Team this year consists of Doug Hinson (803-327-0042, doug@odarbyspirits.com), Joy Davies (704-608-1855, jncd76@gmail.com), and Buc Hiltebeitel (832-302-7514, buckh1104@gmail.com). The congregation is encouraged to prayerfully consider whom God is calling to serve. Names are to be submitted to persons on the Nomination Team, so that they can be brought before Council for election.
