Online Computer Safety
Online Computer Safety: Parents, are you looking for a resource to help you talk to your children about online computer safety? Focus on the Family has partnered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to publish a series titled  "Preparing Your Child for the Online World."  As part of that series, age appropriate internet safety rules and pledges have been developed for elementary, middle, and high school students. Mr. DeOms uses some of this material for "cybersafety" lessons in elementary computer class, and he reviews safety tips frequently with students. You can review the rules and pledges  here
FCA Fine Arts Fair
Faith Christian Academy Fine Arts will be held on Thursday, March 21. Participating students will be judged in the categories of artwork, vocal and instrumental music, speech, creative writing, and spelling bees. We are looking forward to seeing what the students have prepared!
Future Falcon After School Sports
Parents of 2nd - 5th Graders:
Each year we try to do something to provide a sports opportunity through FCA for our elementary students. In past years, we have done a basketball camp run by coaches and players. We will be trying something a little different this year.
We will be launching "Future Falcons After School Sports" on Wednesdays after school from 3:30-4:30. You may have already seen the attached flyer on social media. It is also going home in mailbags today.
Here is the registration link for convenience:  https://goo.gl/forms/NCRWj4mJgnAjnpiv2
Registration is limited to 20 in grades 2-3 and 20 in grades 4-5.
Grandparent's Day
We are excited about Grandparent's Day!

Permission slips have be sent home for student's to be able to leave with their grandparents.

The student's have a wonderful performance planned!

Please remind grandparents to RSVP.
Re-enrollment & Open House
Re-enrollment forms have been mailed. Enroll in February at the reduced rate of $75. Beginning March 1st, the enrollment fee is $100. March 1st enrollment is open to the public. You will be asked to update demographic information on Renweb according to the instructions in the letter and return the re-enrollment form and re-enrollment fee to your child’s homeroom teacher.   Please note this year we are asking for grandparent emails on the enrollment form. This will help when communicating our events like Grandparent's Day.
Dress for the weather
We make every effort to get the students outside for fresh air. If the Real Feel temperature is above 32 degrees, we keep the students outside for about 30 minutes. When the Real Feel temperature is right around 30 degrees, we take the students outside for at least 15 minutes. If the Real Feel temperature is below 30 degrees, we usually keep the students inside for play. With this in mind, please make sure your child wears a heavy, warm winter coat to school. A hat, gloves, and scarf are also beneficial.
Sickness
In an effort to clear up the germs and viruses, we are asking that if your child experiences any of the following symptoms to please keep them home for the day. Symptoms include: Runny nose with yellow/green discharge, nausea/vomiting, sore throat, chills or fever, diarrhea or any other conditions that might be contagious. A student should be fever free for 24 hours (without medication) before returning back to school.

School Emergency Closing Announcements
In case of inclement weather, please be advised that we do not always follow the Berkeley County Public Schools emergency closing schedule! Faith Christian Academy will always have its own announcement regarding school closings and delays. We will place announcements in the following media:

  • School website: www.faithchristianacademy.net (“Quick Notes” along right side of home page)
  • Radio stations: WEPM (1340 AM) and 97.5 "The Hit Music Channel"
  • Television: NBC News 25
  • A text message will be sent through the Renweb data base – all parents will receive an text alert
  • Phone Message: Call the school and enter extension 223 for weather related messages

Every attempt will be made to make a call by 6:00 a.m. on the morning of a cancellation or delay. If a two-hour delay is called then parents need to check back and see if a second announcement is made. Again, every attempt will be made to make a call as quickly as possible. A two-hour delay will result in before care opening at 9:00 a.m. On days where weather may prompt an early dismissal, please do not call the school office. Check your texts frequently when inclement weather occurs or listen for the radio announcement. The school phone lines are needed for emergency purposes.

Any time the forecast is for inclement weather our primary goal is to make the very best decision for the safety of our students. We realize that our students come from a wide geographic area and that road conditions often vary greatly across the region. When inclement weather occurs, parents must use their best judgment in determining whether or not to bring children to school or pick them up early. When parents choose to keep their children home due to the weather, those absences will be excused with a note indicating the reason for the absence or tardy.
Thriving Families Seminar Series
We have an exciting opportunity for our families this year. There is a local Christian counseling service called, Christian Psychological Services, which is owned and operated by Dr. Jonathan Hartiens. We have partnered with this agency to provide our families with three, one hour seminars designed to strengthen your family and give you strategies to help your children thrive academically and spiritually. These valuable seminars are absolutely free to our families and will be held here at the school with free child care provided for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students!
