My fellow art and history followers:

Today we are releasing the Father Corby monument replica after months of sculpting, mold making, and working our way through the casting issues to final success!

Father Corby is, I believe, the only known monument dedicated to a Minister/Chaplain on any War Between the States battlefield in America.

Corby, an Irishman from the Midwest, obtained his Priestly ordination and followed Union troops to war in an effort to meet their Christian and medical assistance needs until the war's end.  He was with the Irish Brigade throughout the war and at Gettysburg prior to Pickett's Charge, gathered the men to grant general absolution upon them. His bronze monument now stands near the spot where he climbed upon a rock, raised his hand, and blessed all the men in blue before the action.

In 1888, he was present to bless the newly erected Irish Brigade monument near the Wheatfield. Father Corby died in 1897. A few years later, the Corby figure monument was erected on the battlefield on October 29, 1910, while a replica was placed at his alma mater, Norte Dame, on May 30, 1911.

Due to the high demand for the Father Corby replica, if you are not ordering from the store site and plan to travel to Gettysburg to pick it up in person, please email or call the gallery in advance to ensure current availability.

So, enjoy our newsletter and be proud to assist in keeping our history alive!
