Recent Investment Highlights

With the expansion of AI, autonomous vehicles, and robotics markets, there is an increasing demand for faster, more energy-efficient computer chips and processing modules. Semiconductor companies struggle to cost-effectively achieve performance gains due to the inability to pattern sub-20-micron-resolution wires.

NanoPattern has developed a new photoresist that enables sub-2 micron patterning of wires at a fraction of the cost of other methods while being fully compatible with standard photolithographic processing equipment, eliminating the need for one-of-a-kind, capital-intensive manufacturing processes.

Seawalls are solid barriers built along the shoreline that reduce the destructive impact of waves and currents. They are the first line of defense against rising sea levels, yet there has been little to no innovation in about a century. Traditional seawalls are big, flat concrete panels that destroy habitats and leak chemicals.

Kind Designs is changing this with its 3D-printed living seawalls. Designed as artificial reefs, they mimic the natural habitat, such as mangrove roots in the south and barnacle clusters in the north. These designs dissipate 40% of the force of waves, and the rugosity of the exteriors facilitates the attachment of seaweeds, shellfish, and other marine life at the same price as current seawalls. The 3D printers offer faster production with zero waste, and can even include sensors to collect environmental data.
