Welcome SFP Session II Library Assistants!!!

Hello! My name is Gibby Heiser, and I call Atlanta, Georgia home. I am a rising senior at Davidson College in North Carolina with a double major in Art History and Biology. I'm interested to meet all of the wonderful creatures I can and I’m currently working on my Art History honors thesis focused on Persian seal stones.

Hi! My name is Ally Keller and I am from Pendleton, Indiana. I am a rising senior at Auburn University where I study Marine Biology with a minor in Environmental Law. This is my second time spending the summer at GCRL, and I'm so excited to be helping out in Gunter Library this year! A fun fact about me is that I have run the Cleveland Marathon, and I love running! I can't wait to meet everyone this summer!

Star Spangled Beach Cleanup

On Saturday July 5th, volunteers from GCRL stepped up and helped cleanup the Independence Day debris left by celebrants at East Beach. Co-Captains, David Sliman and Joyce Shaw, led the group on a 2 plus hour beach cleanup effort to make our beaches trash free. About 50 lbs. of trash including two melted plastic trash barrels were collected and set out for pickup by the City of Ocean Springs. Thank you to Megan Le, Dr. Jessica Pruett, Dr. Eric Saillant and his daughter Heloyse Leonard-Saillant, and COA graduate students Molly Spencer and Micayla Cochran for being a part of the Star-Spangled Beach Cleanup.

Do you want to be a part of this great service opportunity? The next annual Coastal Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, from 8 am to 11 am.

Welcome New Employees!

The Gunter Library at GCRL is proud to continue celebrating the power of partnerships that strengthen our community. Ocean Springs is filled with generous businesses and organizations whose time and heart make a difference every day.

A huge thank you to the Ocean Springs Municipal Library and the Friends of the Ocean Springs Library & Book Nook for this certificate of appreciation — and for reminding us that teamwork and community spirit make us stronger together.
