Laptop Loan Program for Students
We are pleased to announce that the application is now open for the Laptop Loan program. This program is made possible through the generosity of the USM Foundation as well as an allocation from the CARES funding.
Loaner laptops will be available on both the Gulf Park and Hattiesburg campuses. Students will specify their campus on the application form. The applications will be reviewed with priority going to students who have no technology available to them off-campus.
To request a laptop, fill out the request form via the link below. It will require you to login with your USM SOAR credentials. Students will be contacted once there is a laptop available and instructions on how to pick it up. Note: laptops must be picked up in person at the respective campus locations.

Upcoming virtual GCRL Science Cafe
Please join us for a virtual Science Cafe featuring Christian Hayes, SOSE-COA PhD Candidate. The topic will be "The Chandeleur Islands: A Disappearing Natural Treasure"

The Chandeleur Islands are a ~72 km chain of barrier formed from the relict remains of the Mississippi River St. Bernard Delta. These remote islands support the only remaining seagrass environments in LA and serve as an important migrating point for many birds. Mixed seagrass beds in the shallow shoals on the lee side support important populations of different fish species. Over time, the islands have shifted due to island erosion from frequent storms, natural shoreline migration, sea level rise, and a lack of riverine sediments to support shoal reformation. This GCRL Science Cafe examines the natural history and future of these important islands and discusses research examining the role seagrasses play in supporting important fishery species in this critical habitat.
