Resource of the Month:

"Relaxation table and Tea Time"

The Relaxation/Tea Table at Gunter Library consists of an assortment of teas and hot cocoa along with some recreational games, puzzles and adult coloring books. Games include Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, and Yahtzee. Tea Time originally began in Fall 2019 at the request of graduate students looking for a place to gather and relax for a little while in the afternoon. It was closed for a period of time due to Covid restrictions but we are pleased that it is once again open. The space is utilized by students as well as the occasional staff and faculty member.

Time to Submit Your Book Recommendations

All faculty, students, and staff--now is the time to submit your recommendations for books to be purchased to support your teaching, research, and learning. Please include as much information as possible--author, title, date, publisher, etc. Please indicate your preference for print or e-books. Please note there are some publisher restrictions with e-books including the number of pages you can download (usually 60 pages or less). If this will impede your use of the book, then be sure to indicate you are requesting print. We need your recommendations asap. Print books ordered for COA are housed at Gunter Library at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory.

Exciting Progress at Coastal USM

After having been asked a great number of questions regarding the Coastal USM facilities, the executive committee for the Gulf Coast Faculty Council worked with the Coastal Operations leadership to organize a facilities tour that included the Gulf Park campus, Gulf & Ship Island Building, the R/V Point Sur, and the Marine Research Center on Tuesday, January 17 and again on Friday, February 10. There are plans to tour the Ocean Springs facilities as well. Several GCRL employees, Martha Brown, Dyan Gibson, Jennifer Strength, Larissa Lee, Darcie Graham and Joyce Shaw, took advantage of this opportunity to see firsthand the progress being made by the University on Coast. See the link below to a story written by Keith Wilson, a USM alumni who took the tour as well.
