Board approves 2020-21 school year calendar
At its October meeting, the Gwinnett County Board of Education approved the 2020-21 school year calendar. The school year will begin on
Wed., Aug. 5, and students can look forward to a Fall, Winter, and Spring Break, and a full week off for Thanksgiving. The school year will end on
Wed., May 26, 2021. Find the

Veterinary surgery suite opens
The Grayson High School Technical Education Program, partnering with Gwinnett Technical College's Veterinary Technology Program, opened the school's
new veterinary surgical suite. The
new facility will serve as a location for elective surgical procedures, such as spaying and neutering for cats and dogs from the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter. Once the furry patients recover from surgery, they will be available for adoption by the public.

Students connect to future career paths
Career Connections 2019 featured companies representing virtual reality, natural resources management, architecture, city planning, aviation, mechanics, transportation, theater performance, and law enforcement, to name a few. More than 5,000 9th graders from the district's seven College and Career Academy high schools--
Berkmar, Central Gwinnett, Discovery, Lanier, Meadowcreek, Shiloh, and
South Gwinnett-- connected with Gwinnett County businesses to learn about various career options beyond high school and college.
