Leschi and Lakewood News
FALL AND WINTER WEATHER

Before you know it, Seattle's infamous windy and rainy weather will be here. Please make sure you prepare yourself and your boat properly. Keep an eye out for frayed lines. And make sure your lines are at least 3/8 Inch thickness.

Covers are one of the best ways to keep water out, but if they aren't set up correctly they can easily pool up and mold or tear. If your boat relies on a bilge to pump out rainwater please make sure you have ample power supply from the dock or solar panels.

Be mindful that Lake Washington's water level can change quickly. Boats on static docks need their mooring lines checked throughout the season to make sure they are the correct length.
LESCHI LAKECENTER

The Leschi LakeCenter building renovations are nearing completion. We want to thank all of you for your patience during this summer's construction. When everything is done, we hope you take a moment to visit some of the nearby shops and enjoy the updated look.

ASK inZANE

On September 30 some members of the Leschi and Lakewood crew will be participating in the 2023 Washington VisionWalk. Since its inception in 2006, VisionWalk has been fundraising for sight-saving research. We are walking to support our maintenance manager Zane, who does incredible work for us despite cone-rod dystrophy. If you have any interest in supporting us, feel free to donate on Zane's fundraising page.
IN-WATER CLEANING

At Leschi and Lakewood we strive to minimize our environmental impact. This is a reminder from 'Clean Marina Washington' that if your hull has a soft coating it is illegal to perform in water cleaning, cleaning near the water, or near a storm drain. Fines for this can reach $10,000. If your boat has a hard coating or epoxy based paint it is safe for in-water cleaning. More information about Clean Marina Washington's best practices for marinas are available at our website.
LOOKING FOR A PROJECT?

Leschi and Lakewood recently inherited an abandoned sailboat and we're hoping find the right home. A 1971 Aquarius 23', its a trailerable, fiberglass, swing-keel cruiser with great bones.

If you've been looking for something to work on with a group, or as a solo project, we would love to see this boat back in action.
