Gray's Reef hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony October 15 celebrating the 50th anniversary of national marine sanctuaries and NOAA’s new Ocean Discovery Center in Savannah. The Discovery Center is anticipated to publicly open in early 2023 and will offer free programs, activities, and opportunities for locals to get involved with Gray's Reef.

The Davenport House Museum presented a living history depiction of early 19th-century life in Savannah, focusing on the Yellow Fever epidemic, on Friday and Saturday evenings in October.

HOSTED A RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY


Cohen's Veteran Network hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony October 25 celebrating the opening of a new military clinic serving active and retired members as well as their families. Governor Brian Kemp, Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan, Mayor Allen Brown, and other dignitaries joined the local community to welcome this community resource to Hinesville.

HSF WELCOMES NEW YORK EXPERTS FROM ‘HINGE NEIGHBORS’ AT NOV. 1 ANNUAL MEETING 


Historic Savannah Foundation is hosting its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Savannah Repertory Theatre located at 402 East Broughton St. The evening’s speakers, Suzanne Mayer and Shawn Dunwoody from Hinge Neighbors, will speak about their efforts to reconnect the neighborhoods long separated by the Inner Loop North in Rochester, New York.

BUDDY WATCH TO HOST RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR FUTURE VETERAN HOMES



Buddy Watch, Inc. is a new nonprofit organization with the mission of building homes for veterans. They are launching a revolutionary new bird feeder to provide the funds for this housing initiative. On Nov. 10, the organization will host a ribbon cutting on five acres of land that has been donated by Buddy Watch, Inc.'s founder, Jo Coleman.

The Davenport House Museum will host its annual Harvest Lecture, Bound to the Fire: How Enslaved Chefs Helped Invent American Cuisine at 6:30 p.m. November 10 at the Second African Baptist Church, located at 123 Houston St. in Savannah. This year, Dr. Kelley Fanto Deetz will draw upon archaeological evidence, cookbooks, plantation records, and folklore to present a nuanced discussion of the lives of enslaved plantation cooks from colonial era through emancipation and beyond and how it has shaped American cuisine today.

Georgia Tech Savannah is slated to host the next event in its Learners & Leaders series from 8 – 9:30 a.m., with breakfast and networking commencing at 7:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022. The seminar, Becoming an Employer of Choice – Recruiting and Retaining Employees, is a hybrid event.
