WINNER ANNOUNCED IN GRAINGER HONDA/NISSAN CAR GIVEAWAY BENEFITTING THE 200 CLUB


Grainger Honda/Nissan raffled off a new car to raise money for The 200 Club of the Coastal Empire. This event raised over $92,000 to help support the families of first responders who have lost their loved ones. The winner, Steven Kellam, got to choose between a 2022 Nissan Rogue or a 2022 Honda CR-V donated by Bill Grainger and the Grainger Companies, who also fully paid the sales tax on the vehicle.

HSF HOSTED JEFF FREEMAN IN THEIR SEPTEMBER SESSION OF 'PEOPLE, PLACES AND STORIES' LECTURE SERIES 


Historic Savannah Foundation hosted Jeff Freeman in their "People, Places and Stories" lecture series on September 22. Freeman focused his lecture on Savannah in the Civil War.

Savannah African Art Museum hosted the "African Symbols Past and Present" workshop where attendees explored the history of Ghana’s authentic Adinkra cloth and its distinct symbols.

THE EXCHANGE CLUB OF RICHMOND HILL HOSTED THEIR 29th ANNUAL FISHING DERBY  


The Richmond Hill Exchange Club hosted their 29th Annual Lynn Bennett Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, September 24th. Kids ages 15 and under came from all over to participate for their chance at catching a catfish.

What's Happening This Month?

GRAY'S REEF NATIONAL MARINE SANCTUARY TO HOST RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY  


Gray's Reef will host a ribbon cutting ceremony October 15 celebrating the 50th anniversary of national marine sanctuaries and NOAA’s new Ocean Discovery Center in Savannah. The Discovery Center is anticipated to publicly open in early 2023 and will offer free programs, activities, and opportunities for locals to get involved with Gray's Reef.

The Historic Savannah Foundation will host their annual Gala on October 22. The Gala is to thank supporters of the foundation and celebrate this year's accomplishments.

DAVENPORT HOUSE MUSEUM TO PRESENT LIVING HISTORY PROGRAM - YELLOW FEVER IN SAVANNAH 1820


The Davenport House Museum will present a living history depiction of early 19th-century life in Savannah, focusing on the Yellow Fever epidemic, on Friday and Saturday evenings in October. The performances will begin at 7 p.m. at the Davenport House Museum Entrance and Shop. Due to limited seating, guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.

SAVANNAH BALLET THEATRE TO PRESENT ORIGINAL JACK THE RIPPER BALLET 


The Savannah Ballet Theatre is slated to celebrate the spookiest time of year by performing Jack the Ripper at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 at Tybee Post Theatre. Tickets are currently available for purchase.

Georgia Tech Savannah will host "Highlights of K12 STEAM/STEM Education in Rural Georgia" on Oct. 20 as the next seminar in their "Learners and Leaders" series. This free seminar will be virtual and requires registration in advance.

BUDDY WATCH TO HOST RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR FUTURE VETERAN HOMES



Buddy Watch, Inc. is a new nonprofit organization with the mission of building homes for veterans. They will soon launch a revolutionary new bird feeder to provide the funds for this housing initiative. On Nov. 10, the organization will host a ribbon cutting on five acres of land that has been donated by Buddy Watch, Inc.'s founder, Jo Coleman.
