How's Everybody Doing?

Thanks for the responses from last week. We received a couple of videos and a "checking in" email but it would be GREAT to get more Hello Videos!

Email me a quick video (< 30 seconds) just saying hello to your Morningside Church family and a quick comment about how you are. (Send the videos to:

Doesn't need to be anything fancy or formal. Just say a quick hello, show us your dog or cat or your prized flower bed or a #Pandem2020 project you are working on.

Enjoy these Hello Videos from Jan Nelson and Renee Cornwell. I've also included a couple of Hello Notes received from a couple of our non-technical family members. ;o)
Hi everyone,

How are you all doing?  I am fine and am having to "eat my words".  For a very long time I have said "if I just had time, I would clean those closets and drawers, and it would be so great to be able to knit more or read more.

Well, guess what.  Now I have it.  And to be truthful, I'm going to be glad when we can get out a bit more.  I miss being with people, but am so grateful that people are doing as we are here and hopefully no one will become sick.

Blessings to all of you.  Stay well and someday we will hug again.

Hello All,

I wanted to let all know that Mikey and I are doing well. We planted plants in our pots and am going to put pictures in a scrape book. One of hose things that we never get to.

Wishing my church family well and hope those who are healing are getting support. Let me know. I can pick up groceries with good directions.

If you have any prayer requests or questions let Jeff know

Our youth group was scheduled to go to Denver this summer for our yearly mission trip with DOOR to serve and learn and see the face of God in the city. We recently learned that DOOR was cancelling all of their in person mission trips for the summer. Because of this and concerns about COVID-19, the youth council met this week and made the decision to postpone our Denver trip until the summer of 2021. We also will cancel our second mission trip to Eugene in August.

As we get closer to the summer, we will consider other short term local mission options for this year. In whatever we do, health and safety will always be our guiding factors. If you put down a deposit for the mission trip you can ask for a refund, leave it as a deposit for next year's mission trip/camp, or make a donation to the youth fund. If you would like a refund let me know and I will help that happen.

Saying Thank You to District Superintendent Tim Overton-Harrris
Sunday, June 14th, 2 - 4 PM
To friends of the Cascadia District,

Tim Overton-Harris will be completing three years as Cascadia District Superintendent at the end of June this year. The Bishop plans to appoint him as Columbia District Superintendent effective July 1, 2020.

We will not be able to gather in person at a district lunch during the Annual Conference Session this year. That is the traditional venue for expressing our appreciation and wishing our DS well when they are leaving the job.

But, we do want to tell Tim how much we have appreciated his leadership, selfless work, and vision for the Cascadia District over the past three years.

We will be gathering virtually for a Cascadia District Celebration on Sunday, June 14th from 2-4 p.m. We will include a time of appreciation for Tim in that online gathering. You can register for that event here:  CLICK HERE

To prepare for that, please send me your expressions of appreciation in one of three ways:

  • Mail a card to Tim c/o Cascadia District, 680 State St., Suite 200, Salem, OR 97301
  • E-mail your greeting for Tim to me at Put "DS Tim Appreciation" in the subject line
  • Create a brief video (10-20seconds) using your smart phone, and attach that to an e-mail to me. Put 'DS Tim Appreciation Video" in the subject line.

We'll stitch those together into a short video. We need those no later than June 4th (that's next week!)

Thank you for your participation! I'm looking forward to hearing from you! (And don't tell Tim!!)
