Headmaster Letter
Dear North Phoenix Prep Families,

Some families have inquired about the planned teacher walkouts happening across Arizona this Thursday. While we certainly respect the rights of teachers to make their voices heard through this activity, we are planning to proceed with a regular school day on Thursday, April 26th here at North Phoenix and across all of our Great Hearts Academies. We will update you should anything change as the week moves ahead.

Please reach out directly with any questions.

In other news, please note that the  “Cabinet of Curiosities”  exhibit, formerly known as the Art Walk, has been moved to next  Thursday, May 3rd . We’re looking forward to a great event in the Prep Multi-Purpose Room! Note that this is the same day as the  Middle School Drama Club  performance, so you can make an evening of it! In addition, be sure to check out our  athletics calendar , as there are a number of wonderful opportunities to cheer our Gladiators on to victory in the coming days.

With Devotion,
Headmaster Weinhold

Gladiator Basketball News!
From the Assistant Athletic Director- Mr. Bustos

I wanted to take this opportunity to invite you to our gym this Tuesday to watch some basketball. Our Boy's A team has done a great job thus far this season, as they've only lost three games all year. They play North Pointe Prep at 5 and look to end the regular season on a high note as they get ready for the playoffs. I'm sure the boys would greatly appreciate the support as they prepare for the postseason.

Additionally, our girl's basketball team is playing at 6 that same night. I can't begin to express how proud I am of these young ladies, many of whom have little to no experience playing organized basketball. They've won 3 of their last 5 games and darn near won a 4th after a close loss to Glendale Prep. This is their final home game of the regular season, and I know they would love nothing more than to see the gym full on Tuesday. They're playing Anthem Prep, a team that is one game ahead in the standings. If they beat them on Tuesday, they would have an excellent shot at playing a home playoff game next Tuesday.

Summer Academy at St. John’s Santa Fe and Annapolis
Summer Academy is a pre-college residential program, where students have the chance to experience a bite of what life is like in the St. John’s College undergraduate program. Each session is themed, and students attend classes in several disciplines that all relate to the central concept being explored. Classes are taught in the same discussion-based format as the undergraduate classes, and use original texts as the basis for their discussion. Outside of class, students participate in activities that show the full range of what a Johnnie’s extracurricular life is like, including croquet, swing dance, int ramurals, art, music, and workshops.

Uniform Updates - From the Dean
Have you been preparing for uniform purchases? With our new logo, we will be making some changes to our uniform shirts for next year. Don’t worry! You won’t need to go out and change your child’s entire wardrobe. All current uniform styles will be grandfathered into the uniform code as options, but the new shirts will be available beginning this summer.

Middle school students will have black or burgundy colored polos with the new logo (but they may wear any older design polos in black, burgundy, or white).

High school students will be able to wear short or long-sleeved Oxfords with the new logo patch in every grade (but they may wear any older design polos in black or burgundy). Juniors may add the NPX tie, and seniors may add the blazer.

Sweatshirts offered by the school (sports teams, Lanistae, Senate, etc), letterman jackets, and sweaters with patches sold by our uniform distributors are allowed. However, the student must wear a uniform polo or Oxford underneath. This is no different than this year, but I’ve listed it here to let you know the sweaters will have the new logo patch.

All other uniform pieces, such as skirts, shorts, slacks, shoes, and outerwear will be the same as this year. Please see the uniform guidelines linked on the website for details. Email Ms. Schripsema for questions, sschripsema@northphoenixprep.org.
