Headmaster Letter
Dear North Phoenix Prep Families,

What a tremendous week we had! The Weinholds enjoyed cheering on the Gladiators who were playing for the Middle School Baseball Championship this Friday. Though they ultimately lost the game, they can certainly be proud because they defeated the #1 seed to get into the championship. Our team is young and strong, and from what I saw on the field the future looks bright for our baseball program! On that same Friday, our faculty traveled to different locations across the valley for a Great Hearts in-service day. All of us enjoyed a theatrical performance. Some attended a performance of Shakespeare's  Twelfth Night , others of  Macbeth , and still others a rendition of Homer's  Iliad.   Such are the activities of a community that is intellectually, morally, and aesthetically alive like ours.

As we pivot forward into a new week full of vitality, I want to update you on the work that we are doing to provide our students with a safe recreational space during the twenty or so minutes between the opening of our campus and the first bell. Because our courtyard space was built at an incline, the safe space that's available for catching & throwing is not sufficient to meet student demand. Our team has been working hard to find an alternative space that we can feasibly monitor in response to this difficulty. The most workable solution that we have found comes from our comrades on the Archway side, who have generously offered the use of their outdoor basketball court & artificial turf play space. But because that space is on the other side of campus, it will require additional monitoring to ensure student safety.

This is where I must appeal to our parents for help. We do not have a sufficiently large faculty to accommodate these extra monitoring duties, so in order to make Archway's space available for Prep use, we need several parents to volunteer.  Anyone who is interested in helping us monitor this play space should contact Ms. Coughlon at ccoughlon@northphoenixprep.org

We have a fantastic week ahead of us, Gladiators! Let's live it to the fullest!

With Devotion,
Headmaster Weinhold

Student Spotlight
This week, we were thrilled to share a bright moment with one of our Seniors, Vinamra Kumar. Vinamra was granted admission into the prestigious KEYS Intership Program hosted by the University of Arizona. Their representatives coordinated with us and Vinamra’s parents to ensure that they could Skype in to remotely present his award in front of his teachers and administration.

The shared investment- of students, families, and faculty alike- is the greatest key to our success, collectively and individually! We are honored to support the students in their pursuits and to share in the victories they work so diligently to achieve.

Congratulations, Vinamra!
Elk's Students of the Month

We are so grateful to welcome back our friendly neighbors and partners in serving our local community, the Elks Lodge! Together, we recognized the investment of four more of our great-hearted Gladiators.

From the PSO
Thank you to all who cam out to the Dads Club event on Saturday to pack sack lunches for Phoenix Rescue Mission. It was a huge success! Last year, we made 500 lunches. Based on the number of people signing up this year, we felt like we could target 1,000 lunches and we bought the food accordingly. We got an even bigger turnout, and some of the food items lasted longer than expected so we bought more bread to keep the process going. -Estimates are that we made between 1,600 and 1,800 lunches!
Again, thank you to both Archway and Prep for a sucessful event and to the Elk's lodge for their wonderful partnership!
Sincerely,
Josh Miller - NPX PSO President
