20th year anniversary:

POAH turns 20!
From a small start-up with a powerful idea in 2001, POAH has grown to a robust and mature organization, creating and managing affordable homes for more than 20,000 people. Throughout our history, we have remained mindful of the original mission as we preserved individual properties, pursued complex multi-property transactions, and created new mixed-income, mixed-use developments.

Residents chart paths to success
They chart their paths to success through Community Impact opportunities offered at their property - job training, financial literacy classes, and personal coaching - dedicating themselves to achieve a personal dream over months or years. Their stories are marked by boundless enthusiasm and an optimism rooted in the belief in their own abilities. We celebrate each of them for the dedication, hard work and commitment to realize their dream.
Marta's Story
Marta lived in a POAH property for five years and the Family Self Sufficiency program offered by POAH Communities and Compass Capital offered her the opportunity to earn and save money. Today, she owns her own home and reflected on the experience: “I’m a single mom with two kids in college. We can do it. If we work hard and focus on what we want, we can do it." Read her story
