POAH cuts ribbon on former South Chicago YMCA building - now senior housing
ChicagoMayor Lori Lightfoot, Congresswoman Robin Kelly and10th Ward Alderwoman Susan Sadlowski-Garza helpedPOAH celebrate the grand re-opening of the former South Chicago YMCA, now known as the South Chicago Salud Center and Senior Housingon Dec. 18. Purchased in 2019, the property recently underwent significant rehab work with improvements to 101 senior apartments and the repurposing of the former non-residential YMCA spaces now operated by Claretian Associates for community services, after-school programming and other resources.

Resident participation in one of the Family Self Sufficiency programs administered by Compass Working Capital in six POAH properties in New England is associated with an average increase of $3,709 (24%) in annual earned income over 2.5 years.
