Congresswoman Pressley, Mayor Wu help celebrate opening of The Amp at Flat 9 in Boston


BOSTON, MABoston Mayor Michelle Wu and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley joined POAH, the Boston Housing Authority (BHA) and residents and partners to celebrate the completion of The Amp, the third and final phase of Flat 9 at Whittier, a HUD Choice Neighborhoods redevelopment in Roxbury. The multi-year redevelopment replaced 200 public housing units with 210 deeply affordable homes and created 262 additional mixed-income rental units. The project also introduced new streets, retail space, play areas, and pedestrian-friendly design that reintegrates the development into the surrounding community.

POAH tapped by CHA to renovate 126-unit property on Near West Side


CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago Housing Authority has tapped Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) to steer a roughly $45 million mixed-finance overhaul of Loomis Courts, the longtime public housing complex on the Near West Side. The plan calls for an extensive renovation of the two-building, 126-unit property, with modernized apartments, new building systems, and locked-in long-term affordability. Residents who relocated from Loomis as early as January 2020 will get priority to return once the work is done. Rendering of future development

 Renovations begin at historic mill building in Southeast Massachusetts


ATTLEBORO, MA - Gardner Terrace II and Hebronville Mill consist of eight buildings – a 52-unit brick building on Knight Ave and the former Hebronville Mill complex, a seven-building historic textile factory dating back to 1854. Renovations include structural improvements, roof replacement, apartment upgrades of kitchen and baths, 8 accessible units as well as the construction of a dedicated common space for residents. These improvements will enhance the building’s conditions for residents while preserving its historic elements.

 POAH begins third new construction project in multi-phase redevelopment in Southeast DC


WASHINGTON DCPOAH has closed on a $98.5 million financing for the construction of the 90-unit, fully affordable Hillsdale Flats Phase I, the third new construction property in the multi-phase redevelopment of the Barry Farm-Hillsdale community in DC’s historic Anacostia neighborhood.



“The Barry Farm-Hillsdale redevelopment is more than housing; it’s a catalyst for inclusive growth and long-term opportunity in Ward 8 and across the District,” Maia Shanklin Roberts, POAH vice president of development, said. “We are proud to advance a vision that promotes housing stability while creating shared economic benefits for the entire community."

POAH continues partnership with Cape Cod's largest affordable housing developer for 45 new apartments


BREWSTER MA - POAH will build 45 affordable rental apartments in 7 buildings in Brewster on Cape Cod with co-developer Housing Assistance, the largest developer of affordable housing on Cape Cod and the Islands. The development will be named Spring Rock Village.



The buildings will be designed in the classic Cape Cod tradition on a naturalistic site that preserves a substantial amount of the land’s existing native trees with subtle but significant updates that make them highly energy efficient and durable, with minimal to no onsite fossil fuel usage. The apartment homes will be centered around a wooded island of existing trees with a community center and outdoor recreational area for residents.
