POAH begins construction on 2 urban redevelopments and new affordable community on Cape Cod
Boston: Flat 9 at Whittier Phase 3

Flat Nine at Whittier, Phase 3 (right) is a 172-unit new construction high-rise building that represents the final phase of the comprehensive redevelopment of former distressed public housing into new mixed-income housing using the federal Choice Neighborhoods program. The building includes 10,000 square feet of commercial space and is located directly across from a public transit station.
Phase 1 and 2 (above) were completed in 2020 and 2021.
Somerville: Clarendon Hill

Clarendon Hill Apartments, Phase 1 is 168-unit new construction project that marks the comprehensive redevelopment of state public housing in Somerville, MA. The project is installing innovative modular technology for high-rise multifamily housing. The total build-out of the project is 591 units of affordable and market rate housing.
Mashpee, Cape Cod: LeClair Village
LeClair Village will be a family community made up of 39 affordable homes across three buildings on Town-owned land in Mashpee on Cape Cod. This development will represent an 11% increase in the town’s affordable housing stock – a significant boost in a high-cost market where many seasonal employees and others struggle to find stable housing that they can afford.
LeClair Village is designed to be certified passive house under Passive House Institute of the US standard.

POAH selected as full-service master developer for 24-acre site in St. Louis

POAH's proposal ranked highest for demonstrated ability to preserve affordable communities

The historic Clinton-Peabody Apartments consist of 358 units in 31 buildings over 24 acres. The property has served as an affordable housing resource for extremely low-income families since 1942; its redevelopment is a key priority for the St. Louis Housing Authority
Public engagement will drive a master development plan for the 23-acre campus located immediately south of downtown and in close proximity to upscale neighborhoods and some of St. Louis’ largest corporate headquarters. The 31 buildings will be replaced in phases with roughly 500 mixed-income units over the next several years Read the press release
Chicago

POAH completes renovations at senior developments on the South Side and in nearby Harvey
POAH completed construction in February at the Emil Jones (top photo) and Fred C. Matthews senior properties on Chicago’s South Side and South Suburban Senior Housing in Harvey, IL. Jones and Matthews are 60-unit properties and represented POAH’s first RAD-for-PRAC Section 8 conversions.

POAH renovated all 120 units at South Suburban (right), upgraded major building systems and redesigned the first-floor community spaces and management offices. POAH extended the HAP contract for all the apartments.

POAH has released a toolkit to inspire mission-driven housing providers to adopt a trauma-informed approach to housing. Owners, resident service providers, property management companies, architects, interior designers, funders, policy makers and residents can learn how to create homes that foster resilience and support overall well-being.
