Mayor Bowser Joins POAH and DCHA to Celebrate Ribbon Cutting and Groundbreaking at Barry Farm

First two buildings in the redevelopment of the historically significant Barry Farm-Hillsdale community

Washington, DC - POAH leaders were joined by Mayor Muriel Bowser (center), the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) and the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) to cut the ribbon on POAH's first construction in the Barry Farm redevelopment in Southeast DC. The Asberry is a mixed-use building with 108 units of affordable rental housing with a preference for those aged 55+. The group also broke ground for the neighboring Edmonson, the future affordable 139-unit mixed-use property. Read the press release

The Barry Farm redevelopment is one of POAH's eight completed or future revitalizations underway in major urban areas across the country. With modern affordable apartments, revitalized neighborhoods and resident success programs, they are a blueprint for how to do it right.
