U.S. Rep. Magaziner, Providence Mayor Smiley, RI Housing Secretary launch renovations at Pocasset


PROVIDENCE, RI – Congressman Seth Magaziner, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley, Rhode Island Housing Secretary Deborah Goddard and RIHousing CEO/Exec Dir Carol Ventura, joined POAH July 1 to celebrate the start of renovations at Pocasset Manor in Providence, a 82-unit development for seniors and disabled. The upgrades will use $520,000 in Green and Resilient Retrofit Program funding supported by Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed.

MA Housing Secretary, Cambridge officials kick off renovations at former church rectory and school


CAMBRIDGE, MA – Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities Secretary Ed Augustus and Vice Mayor Marc McGovern helped launch the start of renovations at the former Sacred Heart church rectory and school in East Cambridge that will be converted into 46 affordable apartments by the winter of 2027. The program also featured State Senator Sal DiDomenico and State Rep Mike Connolly. The Rose on Sixth Street, an adaptive reuse project, will create affordable homes for the community while preserving and restoring the architectural character of the two historic structures.

 Clinton Peabody redevelopment of former public housing begins in St. Louis


ST. LOUIS, MOA resident-informed redevelopment plan for new and modern housing is now a reality as demolition begins on Phase One of the historic Clinton-Peabody Apartments. Built in 1942, Clinton-Peabody Apartments is the oldest public housing development in St. Louis, owned and operated by St. Louis Housing Authority (SLHA). The redevelopment will encompass five phases creating 350 mixed-income apartments and for-sale affordable homes, green spaces, a sports field and amenities.

 POAH completes renovations of former jewelry factory - part of a historic portfolio in MA


Attleboro MA - POAH has completed renovations of Gardner Terrace I - a 92-unit apartment building that once was a jewelry factory in a city that was once known as "The Jewelry Capital of the World". POAH purchased the factory along with a historic mill and wood-framed townhomes to preserve and revitalize these affordable housing properties for the long-term. The portfolio's three properties total 227 units of senior and family affordable housing as well as associated infrastructure. Phase II of renovations will begin later this year.

RECENT ACQUISITIONS

Washington, D.C.- The Avenue is an 83-unit community located in the Petworth neighborhood in northwest Washington D.C. less than a mile from the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro Station. Built as the first phase of the redevelopment of the D.C. Housing Authority’s Park Morton public housing, the community is home to 27 public housing residents.

Sandwich, MA - Osprey Lane Apartments is a critical affordable housing asset for the Town and greater Cape Cod which has a very limited amount of affordable rental housing inventory. POAH worked with the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation and state and local agencies to preserve the affordability restrictions and address some initial capital needs.

Since working with a financial coach in the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, Brooke Pena, a resident of POAH's Cromwell Court in Hyannis, MA, has accrued a good amount of savings and is working towards homeownership.
