Congressman Auchincloss joins launch of renovations at historic apartment building

Congressman Jake Auchincloss (MA-4) joined local officials, partners and residents to celebrate the start of renovations at Gardner Terrace I Apartments a 92-unit affordable senior housing complex in southeastern Massachusetts. The building (pictured at the top) has a storied past as the Makepeace Jewelry Company that helped establish Attleboro as "America's Jewelry Capital."

Property announcements in Chicago and Harvey, IL
POAH has named two apartment buildings in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago after longtime housing activist Mattie Butler. The two buildings at 6146 S. Kenwood Ave. and 6230 S. Dorchester Ave. were originally built in the 1920s as hotels and purchased in the 1990s by Woodlawn East Community and Neighbors, an organization founded by Butler to connect Woodlawn residents with housing assistance programs. POAH acquires multi-family development in Florida City, Florida

Southpoint Crossing, a 123 unit family development located in Florida City, FL, is home to nearly 300 young adults and children and provides a valuable affordable housing resource in a vibrant community in Florida City. It is also close to other POAH-owned properties. The property offers a large clubhouse for resident activities and includes a computer lab, study/reading room, full kitchen, an outdoor playground and laundry facilities, and the services of a Community Impact coordinator. 
POAH awarded $12 million Capital Magnet Fund grant from U.S. Treasury
The $12 million Capital Magnet Fund (CMF) grant from the US Treasury will be used by POAH to provide low-cost loans to support our affordable housing acquisition and development projects supporting about 1,600 affordable homes over a 5-year period. This is the largest award round since the creation of the Capital Magnet Fund and a 23% increase in the number of awardees compared to the FY 2020 award round. POAH Communities launches voter engagement initiative

At POAH, we believe that supporting all residents to access voting is core to our mission. Our property management company, POAH Communities, is focusing on voter engagement in 2022, including voter registration, education and mobilization on election day. This is a nonpartisan initiative - POAH doesn't endorse candidates or political positions. Community impact coordinators at properties will help residents register to vote, learn what candidates and issues are on the local ballot and increase voter participation in general. Read more
