New Punchout Coming Soon to RU Marketplace

If you currently submit check requests and non-PO uploads for honoraria, net (print) royalties, non-employee travel, patient actors, or athletics-game day services, please note that beginning Monday, August 4, 2025, this work must now occur through a new RU Marketplace punchout for Candex, a company that specializes in engaging, tracking, and paying for goods and services.

For the relevant categories listed above, Candex will handle the vetting, onboarding, and electronic payment to your supplier on behalf of Rutgers, bypassing PaymentWorks for supplier onboarding, Glacier for foreign suppliers, and Convera and RU Marketplace for wire payments to foreign suppliers. This will also eliminate the need for paper checks.

Remain Vigilant of Fraudulent Emails

As members of the procurement community, please keep an eye out for cybersecurity threats, including email scams that attempt to fraudulently obtain university funds. These emails often create a sense of urgency, appear to be sent from university leadership, colleagues, known suppliers, or other parties (called spear phishing), and may include:

• An invoice requesting payment for services provided
• Immediate wire transfers or payments
• Purchases of gift cards
• Changes to vendor banking information
• Suspicious links or attachments

Remain vigilant. If you receive an unexpected or suspicious request involving financial transactions or sensitive information:

• Do not respond.
• Learn how to protect yourself from phishing.
• Become a pro at spotting phishing scams.
• Think before you click; if you’re unsure, do not click.
• Do not fulfill any request until legitimacy is confirmed.
• Verify email addresses, especially if they look similar to a Rutgers email or vendor.
• Report suspicious emails immediately to abuse@rutgers.edu 

As a reminder, legitimate university requests for payments or vendor changes always follow established procedures and are documented through official systems.
