I would like to provide important information and a timeline for PreKindergarten for the 2025-26 school year.
Registration Period
Eligible students may register from Monday, January 13, 2025 through Friday, January 31, 2025.

Registration is NOT on a first come first serve basis. The date you register will NOT impact your access to Pre-K.
In order to successfully register, you will need to demonstrate three things:
- Your child must turn 4 years old on or before December 1, 2025 in order to be eligible for Pre-K in the 2025-26 school year.
- You must prove you are a current resident of the Pleasantville Union Free School District.
- Your child’s annual physical and immunization schedule must be up-to-date and compliant.
The District will review all registration packets and ensure the age and residency requirements are met. Our Pre-K provider, the YMCA, will review the medical information to ensure compliance.
Visitation at the Pre-K Site
Parents/guardians are invited (not required) to visit the school site at 170 Bradhurst Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532 on one of the followings dates/times:
January 10th 10am-11am
January 13th 10am-11am
January 14th 10am-11am
January 14th 5:30pm-6:30pm
The YMCA staff will be there to discuss the program with you, along with our elementary school principal, Rachel Hunger.
Due to space restrictions, this is an adult only visit.
Lottery
There will be a lottery held on February 5th for the available openings in the program.
Each student who has completed the registration process will be assigned a lottery number. Families will be notified of their lottery number on February 6th.
We anticipate having 64 available seats in the program. The first 64 draws (4 classes) will be offered seats in the program. Everyone else will be placed on a waitlist. If an offered seat is declined by the family, the next child on the waitlist will be notified until we have all 64 seats filled.
Commitment to the program is required. Students must attend the program for five hours (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) on all days it is in session. The program will follow the school district calendar. Any additional hours of childcare by the YMCA will be directly between the YMCA and the family.
If for some reason there are less than 64 students enrolled, we may not be able to open all 4 classes.
