Update on Volunteer Hours
We want to thank you all for both the time, and donated items you provided for our school this year. So many things would not have been the success they were without your help. With us being in this new "virtual" situation, please know that we will freeze the volunteer requirement now, and no one is expected to volunteer for the rest of the year. If you still have time to log from previous events, please do this by the end of this month. We will be honored to share the list of volunteers that had already completed their volunteer hours.
Virtual Spirit Weeks Coming Up
We want to connect with our students so our student governments for Elementary, Middle and High School have planned Virtual Spirit Weeks starting on Monday and running through Friday.

Student Artwork featured in DCSD Art Show
Second grader Anirudh Rao and eighth grader Nakita Rane submitted art in the DCSD Digital Art Show and their artwork was chosen to be featured on the DCSD Virtual Art Show this week.
Second Graders Earn Honorable Mention
Second graders Andirudh Krishman, Anirudh Rao, Robin Park and Shriya Madhavan earned honorable mention at the Nation Toshiba Exploravision Challenge for their entry on an idea to save mountain gorillas using bio-sensors. They were the only team in Colorado to receive this recognition. The team introduced an idea for gorillas to get away from poachers by themselves, using biosensors/olfactory-sensors to signal gorillas to move away from danger areas. They used the Engineering Design Process concept taught by their second grade teachers to develop a solution.
Lends UV Sterilization Cabinets to First Responders
On Monday, April 20, members from STEM School Highlands delivered two UV Sterilization Cabinets to first responders within the South Metro Fire District to assist with the sterilization of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for reuse. Two MonitorTM 2000 Germicidal Cabinets, that are used to sanitize goggles and safety glasses for reuse in approximately five minutes, were dropped off at the South Metro Fire Logistics Warehouse in Parker, Colo., to be relocated to Station 34 for use.
Gitanjali Rao Takes Home First Place
Freshman Gitanjali Rao took home first place in Senior Micro & Molecular Biology for her submission on Novel Approach to Early Directional Diagnosis of Prescription Opioid Addiction. This was from the Denver Metro Regional Science & Engineering Fair.
