City of College Park Proposes ZIP Code Modification to Improve Accuracy and Services

Legislation Championed by Councilwoman Arnold

The City of College Park is taking proactive steps to address a longstanding issue that has impacted residents, businesses, and service providers alike: the confusion caused by shared ZIP Codes.

Currently, College Park is served by two ZIP Codes—30337 and 30349. While 30337 is uniquely associated with College Park, the 30349 ZIP Code is shared with neighboring municipalities, including the City of Riverdale, the City of South Fulton, and the City of Atlanta. This overlapping ZIP Code has resulted in considerable confusion for residents and essential services.

From delayed or misrouted deliveries to emergency services arriving at the wrong location, the shared ZIP Code has created logistical challenges that affect the daily lives and safety of our community. The inability to easily distinguish between municipalities under the 30349 ZIP Code has made it difficult for responders, businesses, and government entities to accurately identify and serve College Park residents.

In response to these ongoing issues, the City of College Park is formally requesting a ZIP Code modification to assign all College Park parcels under the 30337 ZIP Code. This proposed change aims to streamline location identification and ensure that mail, packages, and services reach their intended destinations promptly and accurately.

This ZIP Code modification will also enhance the efficiency of emergency services. Clear, distinct ZIP Code boundaries will help ensure that first responders can locate and reach residents faster, without the confusion caused by overlapping jurisdictions.

This legislation is being championed by Councilwoman Arnold, who has been a strong advocate for improving service delivery and civic clarity for College Park residents. Her leadership in this initiative reflects a continued commitment to resolving the day-to-day challenges faced by our community.

It’s important to note that this modification would not alter mail delivery routes or service operations. Residents and businesses will continue to receive the same level of service—only the ZIP Code will change to reflect the true jurisdiction of College Park.

We will continue to keep residents informed as we move through this process and will provide updates on the status of our request. This ZIP Code modification is a crucial step toward improving public safety, service efficiency, and civic identity in the City of College Park.

2025 Mayor & Council Strategic Retreat

City Council Hosts Strategic Retreat to Define Vision and Guiding Principles for the Future

The City Council recently held a successful strategic retreat aimed at setting a clear vision and priorities for the city’s growth and development. Councilwoman Tracie Arnold extended her heartfelt thanks to her fellow council members for working collaboratively to secure the retreat dates, emphasizing the importance of unity in planning for the city’s future.

“I’m proud of the leadership and teamwork shown by my colleagues,” said Councilwoman Arnold. “This retreat would not have happened without everyone’s commitment.”

The retreat, organized by City Manager Dr. Emmanuel Adediran and his staff, featured a series of workshops facilitated by Ms. Amber Batchelor, an expert in strategic planning. Her guidance helped council members open up about their aspirations for the city and outline a comprehensive list of guiding principles that will shape future policy decisions.

These principles will be incorporated into the city’s existing Civility Pledge, reinforcing the Council’s commitment to respectful dialogue and transparent governance.

Councilwoman Arnold also highlighted the retreat’s focus on key priorities, noting that five major projects were identified for promotion and legislative support in 2025. “We have a shared vision,” she said. “And we’ll be working hard to move legislation that supports these projects while staying true to our values.”

Additionally, the Council plans to share a visual snapshot of these ideas with residents so the community can see the outcomes of their brainstorming sessions and stay informed on the direction of city leadership.

In closing, Councilwoman Arnold reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to transparency and inclusion: “Our guiding principles will be shared with the community and used as a compass for how we serve our residents moving forward.”
