A Special Call for Abstracts
Spotlight on Spectrum of Care Pedagogy Symposium: A Special Call for Abstracts
Deadline: December 1, 2022
The AAVMC seeks to showcase pedagogy related to spectrum of care (SOC) through a dedicated symposium at the 2023 AAVMC Annual Catalyze Conference. The symposium will feature presentations, panels, and discussions about pedagogy and research aimed to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes needed to provide a range of care options. Preparing graduates to offer a wide range of care options that are responsive to both patient factors and the needs of socioeconomically diverse clients is a core component of training for both general and specialty practice. Therefore, abstracts related to SOC-related pedagogy in any area of veterinary education are welcome. Learn more about submitting an abstract here.

Personal and community wellbeing, even in high-performance environments like medical education, is not only possible, but crucial.
In addition to being one of our strategic plan priorities, wellbeing is integral to our mission and goals and it goes beyond just the veterinary profession. We want all members of the veterinary profession to be active contributors for as long as they would like to be, not for as long as they can endure. Supportive resources are available here.

Council on Outcomes-based Veterinary Education (CBVE)
|
|
The AAVMC Council on Outcomes-based Veterinary Education would like to announce the upcoming CBVE Town Hall on Friday, September 23, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, CST. Please join us virtually to learn more about “How to Operationalize CBVE within your Program” and learn from the experience of others in their use of CBVE. Join the Zoom here.
The CBVE Model of Education was first published in 2018. The three components of the model, the CBVE Framework, the CBVE Milestones, and the EPAs, have provided an unprecedented opportunity in veterinary education to work from a shared language of expectations for today’s veterinary graduates. As more and more curricula from AAVMC institutions around the world are establishing outcomes based upon the CBVE Model, it is now time to take a look at the framework, milestones, and EPAs to determine whether revisions/updates are required to publish CBVE version 2.0. To this end, a subgroup within the AAVMC Council on Outcomes-based Veterinary Education has devised a survey for stakeholders to provide their feedback on use of the CBVE Model and its components. A modified Delphi approach will be utilized to collect data and determine what changes if any are necessary in the publication of CBVE 2.0. Please consider providing your feedback on the use of CBVE within your program to continue our progress of establishing competency-based education as a cornerstone of veterinary curricula. Feedback can be submitted here.

The AAVMC is working hard to create a culture of diversity and inclusion in every dimension of academic veterinary medicine. To foster this goal, the photographs and illustrations which are used in our communications programs are aspirational, and do not necessarily reflect the levels of diversity and inclusion that currently exist.
