LIGHT CITY 2017 SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts announced details for the second annual Light City, the light, music and innovation festival taking place at Baltimore's Inner Harbor Friday, March 31 through Saturday, April 8, 2017. Announced were the full lineup of concerts and performers, including headliners Biz Markie, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Papadosio and Ozomatli; the 23 light art installations featured along the BGE Light Art Walk, a full schedule of nightly moments that will kick off the festival each night; as well as other new programs and features for 2017. Q. What do you wish more people knew about BOPA and all the events that you produce?
A. We do a lot of events and special projects, and offer a lot of services that people don’t know about or think it’s done by “The City” so we need to celebrate and spread the word about ourselves more.

School 33 Art Center presents three new exhibitions on view in its three galleries until April 15, 2017:
Main Gallery: WAVE AND PARTICLE, A group exhibition featuring sculptural light explorations by Tommy Bobo, Katie Duffy, Jenn Figg & Matthew McCormack, Karen Lemmert, Scott Pennington, and Rachel Schmidt; curated by Melissa Webb
Members Gallery: Low Noise, a solo exhibition by Terence Hannum
Project Space: or if there be flooding, an installation by Bonnie Crawford Katula

The Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower presents a new exhibit: “Out Of This World: A Pop Culture and Natural History Print Remix” by Chris Mona in the First Floor and Mezzanine Galleries. The exhibit will be available for view Saturdays through July 1, 2017 from 11am to 4pm.
A free opening reception takes place Friday, February 24 from 5:30 to 7:30pm where guests have the opportunity to meet the artist, view the exhibition and enjoy light refreshments.

Jubilee Arts, 901 Arts, and BOPA are currently hiring motivated and hardworking young leaders with an interest in painting and drawing to create murals and mosaics for Art @ Work, a five-week mural artist apprenticeship program. Two information sessions are taking place:
- Saturday, February 18 at 1pm at Jubilee Arts, 1947 Pennsylvania Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21217
- Saturday, February 25 at 1pm at 901 Arts, 901 Montpelier St., Baltimore, MD 21218.

BOPA is currently seeking Volunteers, Docents and Ambassadors to donate their time and skills to Light City 2017.
Docents share knowledge of the light art installations with attendees through guided tours of the BGE Light Art Walk.
Ambassadors receive in-depth training on the artworks at Light City and work within specific areas of the festival as the front-line, face-to-face contact for attendees.
Volunteers can lend their skills to assist Light City Ambassadors at art installations, facilitate the interactive component of an artwork, work with the Accessibility or Guest Services team, and much more.

Applications for the 22nd Annual Baltimore Book Festival are now available for tablers, literary booksellers and exhibitors. The festival will take place September 22-24, 2017 from 11am to 7pm daily at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and will feature appearances by local, celebrity and nationally-known authors, book signings, panel discussions, workshops, and more! Applications are due by 5pm on June 2nd, 2017 and available online.

The Cloisters, a historic castle in Lutherville, Maryland will host its next Open House Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 11am-3pm. Vendors, caterers, photographers, florists, DJs and more will be on hand to discuss options for those interested in having their special event at The Cloisters. Guests are welcome to attend and hold a date for their event at The Cloisters for up to two weeks.

Registration for Labs@Light City, Light City's six daytime innovation conferences is now open! Tickets can be purchased online for $149 for a single lab or those who cannot afford the price of a ticket can apply to attend free of charge through the Light City Luminary Program presented by T. Rowe Price. Labs@LightCity takes place April 3-8, 2017 and will bring together change makers and leaders across six industries: Design, Education, Food, Social, Health and Green/Sustainability.
