I look forward to seeing many of you in November at the CASSAR 146th Annual Fall Board of Managers Meeting at the historic Mission Inn Hotel and Spa hosted by the Riverside Chapter. Registrations have exceeded our expectations and we are honored to have 76 full registrations.
I am pleased to know that a most of our state Officers and 19 of our 24 Chapters will be present to conduct the business of our state society. And there will be a large gathering of Ladies at the Ladies Auxiliary of the CASSAR Meeting on Saturday November 6, 2021.
Meeting attendees include NSSAR President General - Davis Wright, Esq., Former President General (2013-2014) - Joseph Dooley, Former President General (2016-2017) - J. Michael Tomme, Vice-President General Western District - Charles Smith, Treasurer General - John Dodd, Esq., Chancellor General - Mike Elston, Esq., Genealogist General - Robert Fish, Librarian General – J. Fred Olive III, and SAR Foundation Board Member – Dr. Darryl Addington. Our featured speaker will be David Morrow, Esq. from the Sons of Liberty Chapter presenting “Patriots of Color and Their Untold Stories.”
Members of the Riverside Chapter have been working hard and are eager to welcome you the meeting. Additional information is available on the CASSAR website.

The CASSAR Nominating Committee is currently seeking Compatriots interested in running for a state office. Officers of the California Society may be found at www.californiasar.org/officers (note that committee chairs are not elected, but are appointed by the CASSAR President). If you are interested in any position, please contact Bob Taylor as soon as possible at tartar-taylor@att.net or (805) 216-7992
Should you apply for a position, you must be endorsed in writing by your chapter in a letter that includes:
1. Your statement consenting to serve.
2. Your chapter president’s (or designee) endorsement of your candidacy.
3. Brief one-page biographical statement.
Incumbents of elective state officers seeking reelection to their current position are exempt from this requirement.
We are still looking for nominations for CASSAR Historian, if you are interested in this position and joining the leadership of the California Society, please contact me.
The CASSAR Nominating Committee will be meeting during the CASSAR Fall Board of Managers meeting at the Mission Inn in Riverside 5-6 November, and interviews will be conducted at that time.

Compatriots, our 2022 chapter dues collections are well underway, and your 2022 dues should be submitted to your chapter by the end of November. A member will be considered delinquent if payment of annual dues is not received by December 15th and they will be automatically be suspended, and dropped from membership after December 31, 2021. If you have not received your dues notice, please contact your chapter representive as soon as possible. |

Congratulations! Welcome to the California Society, Sons of the American Revolution. We are honored that you have elected to join our society of descendants of those patriots and heroes who gave us our freedoms. The California Society conducts many patriotic, historical, and educational programs in our communities, and we rely heavily on our member volunteers to keep them strong and vibrant.
If you haven’t yet been, you will shortly be contacted by a representative of your chapter; I urge you to meet your fellow compatriots, join them in their chapter programs, and become an active member of your chapter and state society. I am looking forward to meeting and working with you in the future.

147th Annual Meeting
The 147 Annual Spring Meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Downtown-Arena on April 21st through 23rd 2022. Room rates are $129 per night and parking is $10/day. The Holiday Inn Downtown-Arena is located adjacent to Golden One Center and is within easy walking distance of shopping and historic “Old Town Sacramento”

The National Society, requires that all members who participate in SAR youth and education programs that interface with students under the age of 18, successfully complete SAR Youth Protection Training. We had formerly utilized the training offered by the Boy Scouts of America, but subsequently, the SAR has developed its own training program that is geared specifically to the programs that we conduct. The process is very simple; the training can be taken on-line in about 20 minutes, and the certificate is valid for three years.

Cyber Scams
If you receive an email from a purported Compatriot in need of help that is unsigned, with no personal contact information seeking contributions to any type of fundraising site; or an email ad-dressing you by name from another member of your Chapter requesting the expenditure of funds or the purchase of gift cards, consider it a hoax. These messages are getting more sophisticated and may even include the unauthorized use of the SAR logo and/or a pseudo SAR email address.
