Mark H. Taylor, director of the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, has been elected to serve as president of the American Accounting Association (AAA). The term is three years serving first as president-elect, then president, then past president. Taylor will assume the post on Aug. 1. Learn more about AAA here.

Yeseul Kim, a graduate teaching assistant in marketing, received the 2022 USF Provost's Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the education, business, and social science category. Khalia Jenkins received an honorable mention for the same award.

Students Compete in Real Estate Case Challenge


USF Muma College of Business students Bailey Bruinsma, Brendan Fritz, Jed Castricone, and Justin Kwitchoff competed in the 13th Annual Mulroy Real Estate Challenge, a national real estate development case competition for students from the top undergraduate real estate programs in the country.

Bank of Tampa Invests in Student Scholarships


The Bank of Tampa has partnered with the USF Muma College of Business to award $50,000 in scholarships to students over a five-year period. The scholarships will be awarded to finance majors or students in the applied securities and analysis program. Read more.

AMA Chapter Wins Awards


Twenty students in the American Marketing Association's USF chapter attended the 2022 AMA International Collegiate Conference in March. They were ranked No. 14 among national chapters, placed first in the website competition, got top honors in T-shirt design, and picked up $1,000 for a Community Service Grant.

BSides Tampa IT Security Conference Comes to USF


The USF Muma College of Business is hosting the ninth annual BSidesTampa 2022 on April 22-23. The conference is an open platform for anyone interested in cybersecurity to collaborate and exchange ideas. Jack Barsky, a retired KBG agent, is one of the keynote speakers.

Faculty Spotlights

Lei Wedge, associate professor in the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance, was interviewed by ABC Action News for a story on rising home prices in the Tampa Bay area.


Kerry Myers, associate professor of instruction in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, wrote about bodily injury liability insurance in Wallet Hub.


Faizan Ali, associate professor in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, received the best paper award at the Managing Tourism Across Continents Conference in Turkey.


Mark Bender, assistant professor in the School of Marketing and Innovation, received the 2020-2021 Outstanding Teaching Award for his service and dedication to the USF Muma College of Business.


Loran Jarrett, an assistant instructor of instruction in the School of Marketing and Innovation, received the Hugh G. Wales Faculty Advisor of the Year Award from the American Marketing Association.

Todd Yonteck (’96, MACC, Accounting, ‘91, BS, Accounting) has joined the Florida Film Funds Production Board.


Shaquille Kent (‘19, BS, Marketing) started a new position as a senior analyst at Huron, a management consulting firm. He is a former USF Muma College of Business 25 Under 25 Honoree.


Brian Killingsworth (‘02, MBA) was appointed as chief marketing officer for F45 Training Holdings, Inc., one of the fastest-growing fitness franchisors in the world.


Lisa-Maria Longest (‘10, MBA) accepted a new opportunity with 23 Restaurant Services as the director of marketing. 


Michael Wynn (‘97, BS, Accounting) was appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees. Wynn is president of Sunshine Ace Hardware.


Liz Wilhelm (‘10, BS, Management) joined packaging products and systems company Intertape Polymer Group as a senior marketing manager in e-fulfillment.

Student Managed Investment Fund Goldman Sachs _3_ newsletter.jpg

Tampa and St. Petersburg students in the Student Managed Investment Fund spent part of their Spring Break visiting the Miami offices of global investment banking firm Goldman Sachs. The trip was a success and may become an annual event.

Jack Luba and Alex Smith were recognized with the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance Dean's Advisory Board Leadership Award. The award is given to students who demonstrate strong leadership, community involvement, and academic achievement.
