Faculty Spotlights

Tina Yang, associate professor of finance at the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance, and Steven Miller, director of the School of Risk Management and Insurance, had a paper published in the Journal of Corporate Finance.


Balaji Padmanabhan, a professor in the School of Information Systems and Management, spoke to Fox13 Tampa Bay for two stories about a Realtor selling a house as a non-fungible token, or NFT, at an auction.


Irwin J. Katz, an instructor in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, received the Outstanding Paper Award from the American Accounting Association.


Jong Chool Park, an assistant professor in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, received an outstanding award for his co-authored paper at the 2022 International Accounting Section Midyear Meeting.


Lei Wedge, associate professor in the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance, was quoted in a WTSP news story and in a Tampa Bay Times story on the area's rental and housing market.

Alumni Updates

Calvin Hagins (’86, Finance) is the deputy assistant director for originations at the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection and received the Leadership Excellence Director’s Mission Achievement Award, the highest honor given by the bureau.


Karina Rao (’19, International Business) has a new role as a senior associate for PwC’s firmwide marketing economic buying team. “I’m excited for this next chapter of my career and I look forward to working and growing with PwC,” she said. Rao is a former USF Muma College of Business 25 Under 25 honoree.


Reuben Pressman (’11, BS, Entrepreneurship) is the chief product officer at Modern Campus and was appointed to USF's St. Petersburg campus advisory board.


Ken Clinebell (’82, Accounting) is the chief financial officer at Corestream and was named a 2021 CFO of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.


Jodi McFarlane (‘14, Management and Organization) will be a content strategy manager at ConnectWise, an application software provider for the IT services industry. She is a former Muma College of Business 25 Under 25 honoree.

Congratulations to Shawn Sachdeva, a senior accounting student on the Sarasota-Manatee campus, who has been named the winner of this year's Robert P. Bartz Memorial Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship award was announced during the Manatee Chamber of Commerce’s 59th Annual Dinner. The Bartz annual scholarship is named for the former president of the chamber, who passed away in 2017.
