"As Medical Liaisons for the Valley Health WIC clinics, we have the ability to access the WVHIN portal to pull required anthropometric and hematological measurements. Many of the participants we serve are from rural areas and often lack transportation. The WVHIN allows us to have access to participants' most recent doctor appointments and possibly obtain information needed to complete some appointments over the phone, eliminating the barrier of transportation.
For additional appointments which require physical presence, we are often able to shorten time in the office and pull measurements for participants beforehand. Overall, the WVHIN has become an added asset to our clinics by reducing both barriers and time spent in the office for our participants."

Population Explorer: Mental Health Follow-up Filter
|
A new filter has been added to Population Explorer to identify Emergency Department (ED) or Inpatient encounters resulting from a consumer’s mental health diagnosis. The global filter is based on ICD-10 codes associated with the HEDIS Follow-Up After Emergency Department Visit for Mental Illness (FUM) and Follow-Up After Hospitalization for Mental Illness (FUH) measure.
To access this filter, choose Mental Health Follow-up from the Saved Filters menu at the bottom of the Population Explorer filter window as shown. You can combine this filter with other Quick Filters, such as Encounter Type (Emergency or Inpatient), Encounter Date, and Date of Birth to pull a list that includes your consumers over 6 years of age who were admitted to an ED or Inpatient setting with an ICD-10 code tied to this measure.

InContext for Meditech Expanse Customers: Now Available!
|
The WV Health Information Network (WVHIN) is thrilled to announce that our InContext application is now available to be embedded within Meditech Expanse! InContext is a convenient tool that healthcare providers can use to access their patient’s clinical information directly from the electronic health record (EHR). Using InContext directly from the EHR, users are authenticated and presented with their patient information without accessing a separate system and patient search.

Internet Explorer is History
Microsoft and Industry Vendors No Longer Support Internet Explorer
When launching InContext from the EHR or within the HIE Portal, please make sure you're using a supported browser. If you're still using Internet Explorer, please contact your hospital-based EHR support team for assistance in migrating to a supported browser.
Without the support of Microsoft and industry vendors, the Internet Explorer browser poses security risks. Ensure your site's EHR system is configured correctly, and you'll continue to receive full-featured InContext functionality and support.
