“Healthy and Goodlooking” bagels mark a new trend for Chinese consumers

What was initially a trend has now become a lifestyle statement in China. The bagel trend has taken over social media platforms, cafes and home delivery services in the country as it embraces what is a uniquely American staple. Interestingly, these simple pastries cost 10-20x more on average compared to New York street bagels due to their rising popularity. Offering regular flavours like cream cheese and salmon, there is also some localisation that reflects the region such as a “tea infused cream bagel” and peach.
